She had some great scenes- the car scene with the Uber driver, the Vibrator giveaway, the “what age do you feel” scene and more. Many don’t know that she was an SNL writer for years and created many of the classic skits - The Cheerleaders, The Kulps, the “tiny hands” skit with Kristen Wig, the Mom Jeans commercial, the Justin Timberlake singing characters etc. She is hilarious!!
Paula definitely stole the scenes she was in, I agree. One of the funniest, because it was just so simple was "I tried Molly in college," (beat) "but she went back to her boyfriend. HEEYYOOO!!"
Yes, I agree. She’s great with the longer dialogue and the one-liners. |

Emily Spivey on Loving Prince, Leaving Twitter, and the Possibility of a Wine Country Reunion: https://www.vulture.com/2...-cast.html by Josef Adalian - Vulture - 27 May 2019
.
Vulture: Any songs you couldn’t get in because they were too expensive to license?
.
Emily Spivey: Well, I wanted to use some Prince lyrics in the scene with me and Maya in the hot tub, and I couldn’t use the Prince lyrics that I wanted to use because it was just impossible to get rights to “Let’s Go Crazy.” And then I tried to rewrite the line and it didn’t work. So that was disappointing, because I wanted to reference some more Prince songs in that scene. But you know Wendy and Lisa did the score, right?
.
Vulture: I did not know that!
.
Emily Spivey: Yeah, Wendy and Lisa from the Revolution. And then at the end of the movie, that’s all of us singing “I Would Die 4 U.” The Revolution came in and they rerecorded the song, and we sang it with them, which was like — I cried. It was one of the best afternoons of my entire life.
.
Vulture: Where is the behind-the-scenes featurette of that recording session!?
.
Emily Spivey: Somebody was filming! Maya also filmed the whole time, but we had a proper film crew there. I need to ask Poehler about that because I want all that footage. It was insanity. I floated out of my body. It was so amazing.

. Hope they post that video!!!! Love the end of the recording when they’re all talking about how they messed up the song |

Wait...Maya Rudolph is Minnie Ripperton’s daughter? I’m serious, I just learned that right now (and I’m old). Great movie, smart and hilarious! I just needed to chime in.
Ummm, yep. The song that she's well known for, "Loving You", was just a little tune she used to sing to Maya when they (the parents) put her to bed. She has a rich music history in her family. Read up on her a bit. It's good stuff.
Trivial - just reading Per Nilsen’s DMSR (finally!!) and in the beginning either Andre’s Mom or Morris’s Mom said that Prince would play Minnie’s songs over and over trying to sing like her |

That's a pretty cool bit of serendipity. I use DMSR as a reference guide for some things. I've not sat and read it in a long time, so I wouldn't have remembered that.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

There is A LOT of information and it’s great. I can see why so many Biographers referenced his book for their work. I can’t wait to finish it!! |

I just watched Wine Country: a movie with Maya Rudolph in it and was pleasantly surprised that she found a way to mention her love for Prince in it, and used a cover of IWD4U as the closing song and assume it's her group (named Princess?) that is covering.
I know she's a big fan and am assuming she asked the estate for one of his songs (in the part where they each picked a song) and they declined as she used the song Poison. Side note: Poison reminds me a bit of P's We Can Funk song. www.netflix.com/title/80194950
Just watched this last night...Really cute movie...Noted that Wendy and Lisa did the Musical score...
I actually cried during the closing credits, I would Die 4 U was an excellent choice, describes the depth of the bond between all the characters in the Movie so well...
