Is the content of the vault safe? What's to stop the selling of the vault's multi-track tapes to producers / artists / record labels for them to homoginise for future music releases?
No one has heard everything that's in the vault, have they?
And those who have contributed toward the vault (e.g. Revolution, Susan Rogers, etc), that might be able to identify material, won't be around forever.
Sorry for the negativity. Had a dream the other night that spurred this question.
P.S. Can I post a Prince song if I sequenced it? For playing along to, I mean. No singing, just drums, bass and synths / keys.
Thanx. | |

A member for 10 years and this is your first post? Wow. The only reason I joined was to post...why else would you do it?
Oh, and no. The so-called "vault materials" are not safe from being sold, tinkered with, remixed, used by others as the basis for their own work--if the people who own the rights choose to do any of those things, they have the freedom to do them. And yep, the people involved in the recordings will die--so will we. And we're not going to hear everything in the vault.
But I've honestly not listened to everything on this hard drive sitting in front of me (I can't even see the end of that road from where I'm standing), so while I hope the vault materials come out in a relatively "untouched" way--if it doesn't happen, it's not worth losing sleep over.

Right now the vault is friggin useless! Songs / Videos etc being cleaned up & organised for up to 3 years thus far yet land-locked in complex legal fuckery for ever.

Thanx for the replies. I was thinking that something like that sampler CD set might end up getting released. Or multi-track tapes getting stripped down and sold off.
They way this world works; it wouldn't surprise me.
@EddieC I think I was gonna post once and it might have already been answered / someone beat me to it or I got scared off by seeing feedback. It's hard crowd to please on here.
@luv4u Thanx, I'll have a read through.
@PURPLEIZED3121 Corporations knackering everything, like they always do. If only we had co-operation rather than corporation.

The contents of the vault are safer now than at Paisely Park.

They’re safe, but the muppets in charge don’t look like they’ll release anything, ever, at this point it’s safe to say there is more chance of Middlesbrough winning the Premier League than some genuine new material not on purple vinyl and twice the price it should be. Comin str8 outta Preston...

It’s all been taken to allegedly the safest music storage there is. Think it’s called iron mountain or something. But no, I don’t believe it’s safe because it’s no longer under princes control and that was really the safest it ever could be. Under the watchful eye of its creator. He was probably somewhat haphazard with it but it was his in his house. I too often think of all the stuff that could happen to it. Left to rot, stolen, lost, damaged, catalogued incorrectly etc etc. Truck or plane carrying it crashes... you name it I’ve thought of it all! Volcano explosion.... but it’s cos I care and we all care and you do from your post. I imagined when he passed it would all be uploaded daily on to a kind of npg music club of our time. Not tinkered with just raw as it was and then if it is then cleaned up that is done and released too, but labelled as such. But no we haven’t had any of this and perhaps the damage has been done. Most musicians think they can improve something but in this case we only want to hear the creator. I wish it had all been handled differently. An upload a day would have been manageable and to us all, kept us happy. I don’t feel it’s safe myself but what do I know.

42Kristen said: Whatever material that is inside the vauly. Someone will protect all the contebts in it. I don’t believe that. I think people protect their own interests and if there is a powerful musician or exec who wants some prince ‘stencils’ to play with I think it is very possible they will make their way out. Feel terribly cynical about the whole thing. Princes records really are like his children and he had died without a locatable will to protect them and so it is up to the powers that be to decide their fate. I wish they would be home in Mpls and uploaded however they are by people employed who love him - maybe even fans on this board - untinkered with and untouched. Done with love. It’s all so very corporate and cold now.

They are inside a mountain right? I would think inside a mountain is probably safer than inside paisley park, I mean the inside of a mountain could withstand armageddon right? Perhaps Prince's music will be the ONLY thing left after we destroy ourselves......waiting patiently for humanity ro rebuld itself and eventually find this goldmine of music thousands of years later.

. Prince's masters and multitracks (including the WB-era stuff) are now owned by the Prince Estate, but of course it shouldn't take long to find that out, especially for a professional. I said I have a ton of multitracks and stems too for legendary songs, but I can't use them for anything, just as you can't use whatever you have for anything either. . The last time a fool tried to claim he (co-)owned some Prince recordings, he ended up with a court verdict saying he'll have to pay almost 4 million dollars. But good luck with "your" 'Let's Go Crazy' copy. . You were/are trying to sell stuff you don't have the rights to, hence your topic got deleted yesterday. BTW: there' nothing rare about 'Paradigm' and while you also claimed to have the Sample Series, what you most probably have is the same small set of stolen samples that were taken from one of Prince's keyboards and have been floating around online for many years. . Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.
