Are there any songs you hated when you were younger, but today you love? Or vice versa: Are there any songs you loved in your youth but now you cringe when you hear them?

I'll start with some examples:

I hated Gett Off for the longest time. I thought Prince was trying to imitate Bell Biv Devoe. But somewhere along the line I changed my mind and decided it's a funk masterpiece.

On the flip side, back in the '80s I loved Good Love from the Bright Lights, Big City soundtrack. I thought it was very catchy. But I don't think it's aged well. When I hear it now it sounds like generic '80s bubblegum pop. It reminds me of Mmmbop by Hansen.

Actually no, most songs that I liked back in the day are still songs that I like a lot, and those that I never liked are still songs that I dislike.

If anything, I´ve grown to like some old songs that I always liked even more now.

And I like some songs that many people here usually dislike (such as Strays of the World, Lion of Judah, Family Name, Strollin´....to name a few).

I like Hit N' Run Phase II more. It was more of the internet songs on it that I liked.

Sometimes, I do get tired of the Top 40 stuff. I love 'em and all, but there periods where I couldn't care less to hear "When Doves Cry" or "Kiss" etc again. Last year or two, since the remaster vinyl, I've tried to warm up to For You more. I love what is referred to as Yacht Rock, but it isn't quite in that category (as much as Prince would be). I'll still listen to the Top 40 stuff if it comes on, but it's not a go-to.

I don't think I'll ever change my mind on Goldnigga, Musicology, The Rainbow Children, or most of the post-2000 stuff. It's 50/50, probably always will be. Even the Anthology that was released could have had better choices.

I used to always skip "All the Critics...". It was just too weird for me when I was younger. Now though - it's a must-play. I used to skip things like "Sexuality", too. Now I love it, of course.

I still ain't tryin' to fuck with "Life Can Be So Nice" or "Shy". I'll listen to LCBSN, but I took "Shy" out of my digital files and re-segued the files on either side.

UNfortunately, I'm drawing a blank at the moment but I know there are several.

I didn't get "Girl" when it came out but now I think it's brilliant. "$" I like now but didn't used to.

There's also a few I liked and now don't. Raspberry Beret doesn't float my boat much anymore but maybe becuase it's overplayed. I'll post more when my memory decides to cooperate.
