Hate? Why is that? They were there to make money, not to express their personal feelings.
You forget what kind of year it was internally: here's a guy that comes with an album project every quarter (Roadhouse Garden, Dream Factory, Camille, Crystal Ball) and God knows how many songs, unstoppable. The eighties yuppies weren't prepared for an artist that wanted to bring back the frantic release pace that was common in the sixties for any major artist. The fuckers were MBA, they wanted to milk the product, as with Jackson, Madonna and Springsteen (an album every 2~3 years).

Besides, WEA (WB Europe) was quite happy with the sales volumes. The back catalogue was beginning to steadily sell.

Hate was from the original poster, not. I think it was more dissappointment. I agree, WB is in it to make money, and UTCM did not meet WB expectations.Prsonally, I liked UTCM. It is a seperate movie from PR. Perhaps the mass public was expected PR 2?

Prince was a machine and producing albums that no one could keep up with. Perhaps WB was beginning to get frustrated with Prince's output cos they could not keep up. I do not know, just speculating.

Let us not forget that, while having the same parent company, WB Records and WB Studios were 2 separate entities, so while of course the success of the PR film had a huge impact on boosting records sales, the lack of success met by UTCM probably had little impact on Parade's sales or WB Records' finances: Parade sold more or less as much as ATWIAD or SOTT, Kiss remains one of Prince's biggest hits and one of his most well known signature songs worldwide, not to mention that G&B was very successful in Europe.

.

So from the perspective of 1993, when The Hits/The B-Sides was released, it came as a shock to many of us that Parade was so underrepresented with only one song (Kiss). Hell, Prince, Dirty Mind and Controversy -considered obscure albums at the time, in the sense that the general public wasn't too aware of their content- had more songs on it than Parade, while DM and SOTT even had 2 songs that weren't even singles at all!! Only GB and For You also had only one song!

.

But there was more: while Batman was totally absent from the singles compilation (most likely because of rights issues), there were no less than three Batman-related tracks on The B-Sides, and each and every b-side from each single up until Batman (that had Sex missing)... except for the 2 Parade B-Sides. I somewhat suspect that even Prince must have been pissed at this, since he included Alexa De Paris on the Letitgo CD single a year later: a very odd choice of b-side for a 1994 new jack swing single, to say the least.

.

So of course the word "hate" was purposedly excessive. But clearly, up until recently, WB had some clear and quite hard to explain disdain for the album. I was wrong though when I said "when you look at all 4 compilations": I'd forgotten that 4ever finally rehabilitated Parade by including, at long last, three of the 4 singles. But if you forget the movie (which did not have a significant negative impact on record sales at all) and just put yourself back in the context of 1993, it was really puzzling.

I hope all these releases happen for sure...

but, er, I can't really see them being bothered about meeting a release date for 1999 of 9.19.19 ... ?

If they did, and made a thing of it, they'd be accused of reaching. 9.19.19 is not 1999.

Jus' sayin'.

If they really want to wait until September, when the Netflix documentary is scheduled before June, they are beyond stupid. All the potential sales they would lose by not benefiting from the documentary

I would expect nothing else from the estate!

Could someone please explain to me why we can’t hear anything from the vault or unreleased as of yet from 2011 onward?

I’m truly worried I am going to die before I ever get to hear his most recent stuff.

It is very unfair as I have been a fan since 1983.

I want video and/or audio of something that feels actually new to me.
I think the estate or whoever is in charge of this is making a huge mistake by withholding things like that. They better do it before people start losing interest.
