Has anybody heard Raspberry Beret from 1982? Anybody heard it? I’m really curious about the early version of this song.

Have only heard that rehearsal version from late 82/early 83. The basic verse and chrorus are there but not many lyrics, cool version though, breezy. It sounds like the type of thing War on Drugs are aiming for right now imho

Interesting that the arrangement/melody played by the strings on the album version is not part of this early take. Also interesting that the band hasn't completely learned the chords yet. The wooh is on the one!

That’s actually quite cool once you've acclimatise to its harsh sonic qualities. Prince + Arduino .

Didn't Lisa add the strings in 83 or 84

Floppy drives covers have been around for quite some time. [Edited 1/20/19 6:47am] The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

I've always been curious what a more Purple Rain-ed version of Raspberry Beret might have sounded like, ditto for the 83-84 versions of She's Always in My Hair. A certain kind of mellow.

Ah, gotcha. It's probably one of the more Purple Rain oriented 1985 tracks. A certain kind of mellow.
