Don't want to tempt fate..BUT 2019 might be a great year for releases:

at least 4 re-issued Albums in Feb / March = not ideal BUT they do NEED to be put back in circulation & made accessible etc.

TIDAL - compilation album [apparently] from 1996 onwards?

1999 - Deluxe around Sept 19th 2019 !! [can you imagine if they missed THAT date!!

Honestly I would be more than happy with the above.

Clearly, the Tidal album is the most anticipated CD because it will hopefully be all new stuff. I have very little interest in the reissues and marginal interest in remasters. Obviously, the Netflix documentary is probably the most anticiapted expected release of 2019.

I hope all these releases happen for sure...

but, er, I can't really see them being bothered about meeting a release date for 1999 of 9.19.19 ... ?

If they did, and made a thing of it, they'd be accused of reaching. 9.19.19 is not 1999.

Jus' sayin'.

Oh, I can totally imagine that they’d miss THAT date. In fact I’d be shocked if they thought THAT date was in any way relevant to 1999! If they want to pick a nostalgic release date the I imagine they’d wait until it’s 40 years old but don’t really see the point in that either.

I wouldn't put much faith in Dr Funk - the original story did not specify a period for release, it just said 2019. And Q1 ends March 31, not in "April/May".

Prince missed a once in a lifetime opportunity by not releasing an album titled 1982 in 1999...

I wish WB would continue re-issuing the 12inch singles.

Naturally we all have them but I enjoyed buying the new pressings.

It would have been nice to have fresh copies of the two 12inches for Gotta Stop Messin' About and even a new copy of the Let's Work 12inch would have been amazing.

Oh well, maybe they were not selling enough to continue.

Hopefully, the re-issues this year will spark renewed interest.

As always, time will tell.

Speaking of 12 inches why can't I find the long version of "Mountains"? Why wasn't it included in the Prince "Ultimate" collection?

Why would it have been included? I mean don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite extended versions, maybe even my number 1 favorite. But they only had so much space and Mountains wasn't Prince's biggest hit.

Besides, if you look at all 4 compilations, it is clear that Warner Bros HATE Parade. Hell, by choosing to release only 3 singles from the album in the US back then, they showed that they already hated it in 86. Why is that? IDK, but they hate it.

Perhaps the hate is due to the UTCM movie not being as successful as PR? Kiss was a hit.

Hate? Why is that? They were there to make money, not to express their personal feelings.
You forget what kind of year it was internally: here's a guy that comes with an album project every quarter (Roadhouse Garden, Dream Factory, Camille, Crystal Ball) and God knows how many songs, unstoppable. The eighties yuppies weren't prepared for an artist that wanted to bring back the frantic release pace that was common in the sixties for any major artist. The fuckers were MBA, they wanted to milk the product, as with Jackson, Madonna and Springsteen (an album every 2~3 years).

Besides, WEA (WB Europe) was quite happy with the sales volumes. The back catalogue was beginning to steadily sell.

RAVE is already pushed back to April. Sony announced a planning they are not even able to hold.
.
It s been a year Tidal is completing materials for a new album, while I could make it one week if I could access to this unreleased songs.
.
WB is supposed to have completed 1999 deluxe and Parade one year ago : what are they waiting for to release it both? Since they won't promote them anyway, as usual, what are they all waiting for ?

If they really want to wait until September, when the Netflix documentary is scheduled before June, they are beyond stupid. All the potential sales they would lose by not benefiting from the documentary

Hate was from the original poster, not. I think it was more dissappointment. I agree, WB is in it to make money, and UTCM did not meet WB expectations.Prsonally, I liked UTCM. It is a seperate movie from PR. Perhaps the mass public was expected PR 2?

Prince was a machine and producing albums that no one could keep up with. Perhaps WB was beginning to get frustrated with Prince's output cos they could not keep up. I do not know, just speculating.
