Is your personal wardrobe inspired by Prince and his associates?

I hope this doesn't sound a rude question. What I mean: is there any aspect of Prince's or his associates' style that you incorporate into your own wardrobe?

For example, I idolise Aura's wardrobe in Grafitti Bridge (black turtleneck dress and leather jacket for the "Melody Cool" number) and Mayte's look in 1993 (fishnets, long black hair with V shaped fringe). I tend to dress like this a bit in my wardrobe.

As for Prince himself, I'm inspired to wear blazers and pointed booties in everyday life. Trying to look like a girl pimp, haha.

I love your post! I have always added a bit of lace (gloves, scarves or whatever) to my outfits. I am absolutely in love with the print and textures Prince wears in the Nothing Compares 2 U video and have been adding funky little items to my outfit since seeing the video.

Except for my Lilac hair, which I tinted on April 21 2016...not really...

I have a penchant for a jockstrap and a pair of suspenders while mowing the backyard.

Yes. I wear black. Prince, Black album, Batman, Johnny Cash and the Blues Brothers. Black..Not because I'm fatter than I used to be and hiding it. Nooo, not at all.

I have more purple than I probably would normally have. Hats, gloves, purses, sweaters, pants, scaves, and so on. I had some lace gloves many years ago, they got lost, but no occasions I can think of now to wear them anyway.

Always wanted to cut one sleeve off of my leather jacket but never had the guts to. I did however wear multiple silver chains on my leather pants ala TBOs number.

all joking apart...Time style pimp shoes back in the day, lots of bolero blazers with lots of buttons, shirts that were quite feminine, in fact the more I think about my mid-80's - mid 90's wardrobe the more I realise that I wore a lot inspired by the purple world!

For me, if my outfit on any given day doesn't look like something PR era, I'm not trying hard enough.

And of course, I can't pass anything paisley in a shop without getting it; I have more paisley scarves than I know what to do with now! (My favourite being a purple one, of course...)

I adore the other eras too, but to me PR is Huge Style Goals™ and I finally have the ability to make any hour cool jackets and real ruffled shirt hours ^-^

I normally wear t-shirts or polo shirts, I added purple polo shorts in memory of Prince since he passed. Van Jones game me the idea with his purple ties.
