TRIGGER WARNING: The drawings are of Prince taking pills, looking high, then "THUD" behind elevator doors. If you don't want to see a drawing about Prince dying, don't click the link.

.

Drawings of Prince's body in front of the elevator are also omnipresent.

Great stuff! A really honest, humble story most of us will be able to relate to.

As someone who appreciates comic books as a medium, I find this average at best in terms of skill and execution.

The recurrent preoccupation with Prince's death and the physical circumstances of his body also seems somewhat macabre and distasteful from my perspective. One panel, if necessary, would've been sufficent.

Art is necessarily subjective, but this just reads like crude trash to me. But one man's trash can sometimes be another man's treasure.

yeah, it's not great comics. the guy's not a cartoonist by trade. he does a nice job relating what (i assume) is a pretty similar arc to what a lot of us orbiting prince for the last 30-40 years have experienced.

it is a little morbid, as far as the death scenes. be warned. if you are actively avoiding visualizing prince at his death scene, you don't want to read this comic. i've seen the photos, and they are horrible and represented accurately in this comic strip.

Thank you for your note about trash and treasure. IMO, the comic’s story touches on many topics and contains much that is thoughtful.

I liked the story and could relate to it. Made me quite sad while reading it.

I found it very honest and he seems to be a true and dedicated fan, maybe even a fellow orger ?

It's ridiculous to you. Some people probably won't want to see it. Ergo my response. "Great drawings" is misleading, I believe. So I warned those who may be more sensitive to it all.

I decided not to look because of your trigger warning. I then came actoss it elsewhere and then realised I was seeing the subject of this thread. Your warning offered no context to something that had much context. I thought I’d just be looking at unnecessary pics of Prince’s death and not a larger and sweet heartfelt story with a good message. Your over elaborate, agrresive and misleading warning is not appreciated by me at all.

Huh...I just checked.out dude's Instagram. Apparently, he's done quite a few comics. I probably won't bother checking any more out, as this strip didn't appeal to me beyond the subject. I do love that last panel, though.

Given that the artist details his dealings with death and opiates in his own family I didn't find this distasteful or exploitive at all. It was honest and emotional. As much as we all like to think Prince was this magical unicorn made of music, it doesn't change the reality that he was just as human as the rest of us and there are lessons to be learned from the tragedy of his death. This comic is the artist working out his pain about Prince and his own family, and that is art.

For you maybe....

But I don't want to see it. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'm thankful to Trivial for the trigger warning.

I couldn't finish the comic, not because of dead Prince infront of the elevator since I seen the real pictures, but because it reminded me of the first days after his passing when even just reading the first line of Purple Rain made me cry. His death still hurts so bad and I think I'll never get fully over it.

Well said. The drug epidemic has touched our family, and it is the hardest thing we have ever had to deal with. It might be harsher than most of us want to see or think about, but it is not without merit. IMHO

Co-sign. I feel the same way.

I absolutely loved this comic though. So brutally honest and very personal and touching. I could related to it on so many levels.

Walt Dohrn has my respect. It takes balls to expose your very personal and inner feelings like that.

Thank you.

But why do we expect people to grow up around here, when they've been fighting and conspiring for years?

This was cool. I love this typ of cartoon art. I like those tiny asides he adds to whats happening be it on tv (singing Gett Off, assless pants ) or otherwise lol. It seems heartfelt which kind of makes me wonder why he would be kind of callous with the elevator and thud stuff. That seems fucked up.

Once I got past the beginning, it was very good! Still don't know why the author/comic chose to add the graphic scenes though.
