It makes perfect sense to get all of Prince's albums back in print... it has to happen at some point or other... so when should it happen?

This release makes sense, especially since Rave In2 only ever had a very narrow release.

Just baffled that these legacy releases are just re releases for out of print albums... Why not go the extra mile and include unreleased, and real ULTIMATE sets, with concert footage, unreleased songs, etc...

It's just a quick cash grab, anything re released needs to include stuff from the vault, simple.

As has been said a kazillion times: Sony does not have the rights to those. Only to released stuff. And they couldn't even bother to include the remixes etc. on this "ultimate" set.

I'm a little confused myself about who is in control of what material and how it's being handled but, obviously, I am not as learned as you are.

Would you buy it if it was metallic blue instead of purple or viniyl? I understand that you probably find the purple vinyl not very creative and prefer black but metallic blue would be in tune with the color of that era (that suit, the lettering etc.).

I would buy a blue vinyl edition. A black vinyl release seemed more likely to me though if it were to be reissued again.

It is a waste of opportunity to be honest.

So basically we got a re release of 3 of his most mediocre albums from the 2000's... Without the original booklet, and now we get rave un2 and in2 with the dvd, with 2 new pictures we never saw before and they label it ULTIMATE.

Would have loved to get some of those Hot Wit U remixes ub CD quality (and it's a travesty that the Adam & Eve remix of TGRES isn't included - it's one of the best tracks of the era imo).

I wonder if there are any Rave 2000 outtakes sitting in the vault. That would have been interesting.

These are just re-pressings with a purple vinyl gimmick on top, they're not new "releases" really and they're mostly not for you or I. I'll be buying Rave because I don't have Rave In2, I'd also get One Nite Alone and Goldnigga if they come out. I might get a few on black vinyl if they get released at a decent price but they probably won't. I say chill on this one. The RSD releases are more interesting.

Not me. I recently have taken to checking them out for free from the library. Not sure why I never thought of it before but fuck red box and PPV streams. Your local library has stuff for days.

When I DO buy DVD or blu rays, they're usually music since I know I'll watch them more than a few times. Lot of times though you can get really good deals on those 4 packs in discount bins or a buck a throw at flea markets.

I barely pay for any entertainment anymore beside occasionally live music. There's just SO MUCH STUFF out there so between YouTube and the library I'm set. I do have Netflix because I like stand up comedy and documentaries.
