Actually picture discs would be pretty sweet and if so Lovesexy needs to be polka dot and ATWIAD Paisley pattern!

Also Prince dropped the ball here and again this was a flaw he always had, FOCUS, a lot was obviously happening in his world, but his choice of singles was not good at all, his touring with this 36 song epic album he never did more than 4-5 songs from this album and some gigs 2-3. So that is why I am saying Prince was selling what he sold on majors at that time consistently , from GOLD to Emancipation to Rave he was shipping 500,000 steady each time.

Is this domestic or just overseas? Is the estate even in on it or is it 3 discs slapped together in a case, I have seen this done a lot with packaging cd and dvds and calling it a new issue

Look harder. I thik we have a "worst pictures" thread somewhere.

Agree this is a werid one to re-release though. Fans (and the public) weren't clamoring for it and no one thinks it's among his best stuff. I'd much prefer a Gold Experience re-issue since that one seems to be the real buried, overlooked and underrealized gem in his catalog.

Even the DVD, which I enjoy more than most seem to, is undercut by rapid fire editing and a bit too much filler.

Hopefully, someone in charge will get on this because the real deal stuff that could be a difference maker is his live material, the best of the vault and the especially aftershows. None of the official live stuff we ever got was top of the line, to say the least and that's a shame. SoTT is the best we got and even that one's not truly live.

And PS the actual PPV airing is slightly different in parts, as it is with most concert specials when they air vs the hiccups they fix for the home video release. I bought the PPV on VHS at a local record store. It's all I knew until the DVD finally came out, five months later. (I also have the Philadelphia Jam of the Year show from the same place.)

I agree with the filler. The Time's set seems to stunt the whole momentum, and the show's inertia is also grinding to a halt during stuff like "Purple Rain", "The Cross", "Purple House", then the weird video segue with "TGRES".

There are horror stories about how he made the audience wait, many left, then they got bored in between segments because Prince was doing WTFever he wanted to do backstage. A lot of energy is lost throughout. Definitely not a typical Prince concert. He lacked focus. The Emancipation Freedom Concert on MTV was 50x better than the whole Rave Un2 The Year 2000 DVD.

If this is the "Elvis return special" picture (Prince seen from the back, with a wide stance, holding his symbol guitar): this was apparently the proposed cover for the album until Arista rejected it. (I cannot see the pic at this moment.)

Fans had to wait outside for hours in the freezing cold while celebs were rushed inside. Only a small selection of fans was allowed inside. The audience mostly consisted of bored celebs who didn't give a fuck about what was happening onstage and didn't know most of the songs.

Definitely not a typical Prince concert.

Plenty of stories of Prince gushing over celeb "friends" while ignoring fans.

I think it's just low-hanging fruit. Vinyl copies of the main album are rare, the remix album has never been easy to get in physical form, and they can still trumpet some of the guest stars if they want to. It can be released with minimal effort. I'll buy it just to have a physical copy of the remix album. (If the albums get a decent remaster, even better.) I look forward to better releases with vault material, but I'm glad they're getting some of this stuff back out there. I hope they get the digital-only releases out in physical formats, too.
