naw, he looked pretty lean by the parade era, like a lttle bodybuilder. whether he had a trainer or not i don't know, someone with that much drive didn't need any help and working out isn't rocket science, neither is diet. a personal coach's main purpose would be keeping a guys mind on doing the right things moreso than showing them, like a coach. |

Putting on two hour + concerts for weeks at a time and moving non-stop doing splits, jumps, running from one end of a stage to the next, rehearsing constantly is going to burn alot of calories. That's how he kept himself in shape. |

definitely but we've heard he also lifted weights during that era and it showed. for most of his public life, he fooled us into thinking he was looking and feeling great, only now do i look back and wonder "at what cost?". |

Why do you think he fooled you?Considering the fact he was a dancer
of course he had injuries from time to time
but i really doubt he had serious problems before 2001
when he was complaining about shooting pain in his leg.
but lets not go
there because we are going off topic.
I dont think Prince was lifting weight frequenty after early period.
If you google you can see some Picture of Prince from 1979 with his biceps and shoulder much bigger than usual.

in the link above there is a picture from 1979 live his playing guitar thats the picture im talking about |

because he looked great he sounded great, he fooled me, even if he stopped lifting weights, he looked the same as ever until the later years, that's unusual. I remember working in steel mills and men would look old by their mid thirties;common. Prince looked the same until his fifties. Then, you hear different things, that he was never the same after the purple rain tour because of injuries, or that he was never the same after he broke his ankle or his toe or whatever it was and was ordered to stop dancing. Looks are decieving either way as can be proved by all the athletes who look great and drop dead the next day, looks only mean so much. Anytime you push the body past it's limits there will be a price to pay. |

looks can be deciving but they can be very open sign that something is wrong.
if u use heroin 4 example you cant fool people for too long.
Prince didnt break his ankle, but he was injured in 1998 yet he was doing splits until 2001. |

it seems like no one has figured that out, the length of his heavy drug use, yet. I tend to agree with you, that you can't use the stuff and not show a lot of signs but there are a lot of people who say it's up to the individual constitution and some people can be heavily addicted and perfectly functional. So, who do we believe? the people who said he was a druggie all along? or the people who said he just got hooked a couple years ago and ended up with a kill pill by accident? I really am undecided, outside of the murder theories which i think are farfetched, i don't think we really know all that much. |

p had a great body in 2010 and 2011 when he toured Europe. He looks extremely fit and healthy. He must have trained during this time. |

For my (as the other person who mentioned Kirk Johnson) part, I forgot about the OP's time frame and focus on Parade. Sorry!
Over the years, there's a bazillion pictures of P looking beautifully fit. I gotta admit, there's something about Parade era pics that pop with the fit and muscular. The tight or absent (on top) clothes of much of Parade era wardrobe make P's fitness easy to see.

He probably didn't have a person trainer, but Jerome fit (high school athlete) and was probably working out with him and whoever else at the time |

There's a pic of him from the Symbol-era where he's lifting a barbell or something. I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said. |

the RS interview, I think the one from the diamonds and pearls era described P having some dumbells in his office. Either way, most non-fans described him as skinny at all times in his career. I'd look at some of his pics and scratch my head, he didn't look all that skinny to me. Skinny is something like Terence Trent D'arby, Mick Jagger or Michael jackson, Prince had a different build. |

He was one of the dancers in Purple Rain so maybe he was also around during the Parade era.

He did work out with weights while shooting Purple Rain and continued to do so until at least the early 90s. You can see a barbell in the Gangster Glam video when they show his office, and there´s also a picture of him holding a dumbell.
He also used a gym with dumbells, barbells and machines during the Lovesexy tour. You can tell he was working out during the Lovesexy tour if you take a closer look at his pecs and biceps. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" |

There was also apparantly a bench that he normally used for the weights |
