I would be happier if the awesome hardback had all the new info, but, it doesn't. So, I'll be buying this book again. It's that good!! Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Bought it as an ebook the first time, will buy it again as an ebook. Like Thunder says, it's that good, and worth every penny. I look forward to the next book, which I believe Duane said will be about 85-86.

Okay for all of you who bought it via Amazon, but I bought mine on a local ebay clone called Trade Me off a seller from the UK (Book clearing house) and I doubt I will be able to get that supplement for nothing. . In light of Piano and Microphone 1983, in which I find no reference too in the book, except for Wednesday being Oct 24th 1983, which suggests the rest of it is from the same era, it seems pointless. Still its the best book on Prince so far and I will eagerly support him by buying his 1985/86 edition when it comes out. . The one date I want to read the most about - November 19th 1986, the day Prince created and recorded the song "Adore". [Edited 10/21/18 18:08pm] I got plenty good loving for ya baby

Well, in defense of Dwayne Tudal, he has always been open about possible errors and correcting them. This man spent 20 years putting this book together... This is not some kind of money grab but a true Prince fan who dedicated years of his life to documenting the most creative years of Prince. Plus he is a longtime Org member Back when this board was fun... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

. There is no "supplement". .
. Duane posted the ENTIRE page about this rehearsal on the Facebook group about this book weeks ago. Go to https://www.facebook.com/...104195943/ and look for it. .
. I dunno, how about READING THE PAGES I POSTED. Which features A LONG LIST of all the new stuff, including PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN SONGS. © Bart Van Hemelen

Thanks Bart, you are the troll who came through. I will remember to leave some gold coins under the bridge. I never insulted Dwayne, I consider his book excellent and well worth the money. I got plenty good loving for ya baby

When I finished it, I immediatly turned back to page 1 and started again. Now somewhere around 3/4 of the book. I think i’ll buy the updated one too, just this time..... Can’t help it, I just need to know. Produced, Arranged, Composed & Performed by PRINCE

It's a shame the paperback is now the definitive version to reference.

I wonder what Duane's thoughts on copyright are. Maybe he'd be open to, after a reasonable time (which is what? I don't know... 15 years?) put the book into public domain, or at least public as in a wiki of sorts. Maybe some kind of expansion of Princevault (which hopefully will allow proper DB searches at some point). . Of course, maybe including some sort of license like GPL3, which would mean that anyone copying part (or all) of the document has to release it for free as well. . Just spitballing here, but as the 'expanded' edition already shows, this needs to become some form of living document that can be expanded at will. The current way of publishing doesn't allow that. For now, it means I'll buy the new version as well. I understand this endeavour needs to be funded. But doing it this way is not ideal. . Not sure what the best way to do it is. I'll just enjoy whatever becomes available. [Edited 10/22/18 9:35am] Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

The basic factual infos (what when where who) have already been, and will keep being added to Princevault. I believe it falls under fair use but, anyway, Duane publicly gave them his blessing, so he's already really cool about it. . What the books will keep providing exclusively is the why, the how and the narrative, which of course is no small thing. . On the other hand there's a lot of other behind the scenes infos available from various interviews, articles and books that Princevault does not include in the entries. Sometimes they mention the backstory of a track in more or less details, but most of the time they don't. Not sure why, but most likely lack of time. . On a sidenote I think there's a reason why Princevault isn't an open wiki: just imagine the editing wars there'd be if it was! Our community is a really uncommon one: too many disturbed people and too many personal agendas! Maybe one day things will cool down, the Princedom will become a more peaceful/reasonable community and Princevault can become a proper Wiki. . As I've said numerous times: there are plenty of solutions for that. You can easily add plug-ins to a wiki which subject all submissions to editor approval. © Bart Van Hemelen

I got the hardback copy and have just ordered the expanded paperback. It's an amazing piece of work and I often pick it up whenever I play a song of that era to look up the specifics of the recording sessions.
Looking forward to the expanded edition. Now bring on '85 - '86/'87 -'88

True. I still fear the mods would be submerged by requests, most of which would be nonsense. But maybe I'm too pessimistic and you're right. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Is a hardback release always reserved for first print? The hardcover always gives an extra shine to a release and also feels pleasant when reading. Is there a change hardcover will be released of the updated version?

. Sigh... The update WAS NOT PLANNED, the updated was caused by the paperback release. Frankly, I'm kinda amazed the published agreed to this rather extensive update, because it means extra costs. Sure, perhaps they'll hope for increased sales numbers due to people double-dipping. I'm actually surprised they were considering a paperback release in the first place, I hadn't thought the book would sell well enough for that to be an option. .
. Normally they have a stock of hardback copies, and I'd think that the paperback release indicated that this stock was low enough while the sales figures continued to be well enough to justify such a release. I'd also assume that another hardback edition would require a significant minimum print run and that this wouldn't be economically feasible. . Except... I get the impression that this book falls into the "print on demand" category (hence the differences in hardback editions; I recall seeing a picture with three different editions that has some significant differances in binding etc.), so I don't know if those "rules" qtill apply. In any case I doubt they'll invest anything in another hardback run any time soon, not in the least to avoid cannibalizing sales of the paperback edition, and I expect the next project to be the 1985-1986 book. © Bart Van Hemelen

I bought the kindle edition, but wonˋt throw money in the authors....I am disappointed, cause he could offer an update for free. I cannot afford a new version of this book every year, ridiculous.
