Purple Wear Clothing 1984-1985 Came across the video on YouTube... Never knew that during the Purple Rain craze there was actually a brand called Purple Wear selling replicas of what Prince wore in the movie, including that mini black jacket he wore on the motorcycle... Was anyone else aware of this? Wish the estate would do something like this again.
Here is the video:

The 80s were pretty monumental with fashion. I can't tell you the number of times I also saw the jackets from "Thriller" and "Beat It" in Venture and Target. Purple Rain stuff was all over as well. But the plus is that so many people were creating their own looks. I had white pants I sewed black buttons down the side seam of, top to bottom. I dyed a trench coat purple and added studs to the shoulder. Those round glasses were at every Spencer's around. Every other girl looked like a Like A Virgin era Madonna, too. Even I had my own "Beat It" get up, albeit a low-budget version. I didn't know about Purple Wear, but everyone had their own homage to the big 3 of the 80s. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Thanks for sharing. I recall reading that there was a line of Prince inspired clothing sold at Merry Go Round. I didn't know that it was called 'Purple Wear' That would be a cool idea to do again.

I remember seeing a pink ruffled shirt at Merry Go Round. Prolly around the tail-end of the PR craze. I always wanted to get a white one, but my granny told me I'd get beat up if I wore it to school. I do recall a black kid having his highschool pic taken wearing one. "I like to watch."

I missed it. But wanted and got a cape like Apollonia's. What?
