Hurt and betrayed

I feel hurt and betrayed that he lied to us about his addiction and intimate relationships with women
I went to PP on Sunday. I understand that he had to lie about so much of what he was doing because he would have been disassociated from the Jehovah Witnesses organization. But does anyone know when was the last time he visited a Kingdom Hall? Also is there a transcript of the interview that the police had with Larry Graham?

Yes he owed all of truth since that is what he preached. Also as a JW he was to be held at a higher standard than you or I.

this agian? ok, it's valid, it really is, i still don't think we have all the info. we ain't even close, it's why the opinions very from "he was a druggie from the early eighties" to "It was only a week before he died that it was a problem". dissapointed? sure, but more dissapointed that he ain't here, way more dissapointed that he's gone. A little drug issue is boring and pedestrian these days, wish he'd have just gotten into rehab, the haters here be damned, they would say what you said but with a different, more judgemental and harsh tone, maybe he didn't want that.

You were not involved in a personal or intimate relationship with Prince to feel 'hurt' or 'betrayed'.

You are simply being entitled.

Complete and utter bullshit. The only thing a pop star owes his audience is music. His personal life was HIS personal life. If he wanted to bang women half his age, that's his (and her) decision to make. If he liked the idea of the JW faith but went against some of its more strict rules, that's his decision to make. If he wanted to hide his addiction to painkillers so as not to hurt his reputation, that's his decision to make. And he has no obligation to explain his decisions to anyone. Least of all his fans. Like I said, the only thing he needed to give us was music, and during his lifetime he gave us more than enough. Possibly to the detriment of his own health. If you feel Prince owed you any more than what he gave you then you need to get your head out of your arse and grow up a bit.

If his preaching kept you from engaging in illicit activities, or helped you be more kind or spiritual, then you should feel happy and thankful.

I think the issue is that some people thought they heard Prince say he was perfect.
He never said that.
In fact he told us he wasn’t.
He was a human being with his own emotional and physical struggles.
He became reliant on pain medication. He stayed here with us as long as he could.

He had principles he believed very strongly in and talked about them. He himself tried to live them the best he could.

He was not God. He was a messenger.
But still, very spiritually attuned.

Also I have said many times sex and spirituality are not mutually exclusive.
Our sex lives just get healthier when we’re alignes with God.
Prince had grown, and I doubt he was having sex with anybody in the last months or year of his life.
He told us many times it’s not about the physical anyway.
He loved everybody. He really did.

And it was his choice. He was entitled to be a flawed human being seeking answers and spiritual guidance over a lifetime full of changes and contradictions. What he was trying to inspire was an ideal. Who says he was obligated to serve as a model? Many have perfect vision while lacking perfection.

If you feel betrayed, perhaps you also feel your years of idol worship were wasted time. Yet, here you are - years after his passing - ruminating on an internet message board. That’s time you could be spending actively serving as a model for the things you found so inspiring... in your own community, offline.

Though I have issues and disagreements concerning certain aspects of JW doctrine, there is no prohibition regarding hip surgery or medical treatment of any kind, other than the transfusion of whole blood.

I used to know plenty of JW's who had undergone hip and other surgeries and had regular medical treatment. Some even accepted fractions of blood.

Amen and ashe to this. Instead of people worrying what a "rock/pop/funk star" owed to them, they should be wondering what they, themselves, are doing to make their own lives and communities better.

What the heck? I will never understand people that think that just because someone is a celebrity, you are entitled to know things about their lives. Are you entitled to know things about your neighbor three doors down? No.

Do I like organized religion? No, not particularly. Would I sleep with someone that could be old enough to be my father, as a woman in her 20's? No, that would be a horrible idea. But, I know that in the context of his life and the women close to my age who made these decisions that my opinion on these matters holds no merit and do not matter because it is not. my. life.

I'm so sick of people on here talking like this. It is completly innapropriate and unhealthy to think this way.

Amen. Unfortunately some fans think his personal life is their businesses hence why the death threads lasted as long as they did. Hopefully people are moving on and will let him Rest In Peace.
