i happen to know a british boxer here in seattle, we'd never fight though, lovely guy. don't know what would happen, he's a lot bigger than I am but he doesn't have kicking and grappling knowledge. we'd never fight, we're friends. one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet, like a lot of fighters. there was another british guy I knew who was a martial artsi instructor I was under for awhile, he was totally the opposite but he was too scared to try anything.

well, it's ironic, it's sad, in his last days I'm afraid people did take advantage of him. How people live with themselves when they do those things I don't know. I've done my share of bad but I never set out to fuck people like some of the people around him seemed to do.

it sounds like he wasn't firing on all cylinders so it wasn't the prince we knew. it seemed he didn't really care anymore either, yet and still he came up with the goods come showtime, he never sounded better, literally never sounded better. amazing.

anyway, my stepdad is losing a step at 72, his son in law got him to buy a dump truck on credit 50,000, and it's now sitting unused in his parking lot. People get older and some people sniff oppurtunity, I told my stepdad I'd never ask for anything. I never have asked him for anything as an adult.

See. this is why a movie is never going to be accepted by fans. Y'all get too hung up on the "he's too tall", "he doesn't look like him", "Prince would never do that", "why is ________ doing _______?", "why doesn't he have a mole like Prince?" bullshit.

Hell the motherfucker they got to play Bobby Brown in his own movie didn't look jackshit like Bobby, nor did the girl playing Whitney. Jamie Foxx did not look like Ray Charles! There, I said it. Yeah, he picked up movements and had certain inflections of his voice, but no actor, none, is ever EVER going to look and sound and act exactly like the person they are portraying. Some might do it better than others, but we all know damn well someone somewhere is going to get hung up on the details instead of just letting a story unfold in a movie.

Why fans are pushing so hard to not have a movie yet trying to find someone to play Prince is the definition of hypocrisy. We can't change whether it is or isn't going to happen anyway.

But Jamie was so damned good at the role most people didn't care or even expect it. Most of the time when people complain is because the actor or script or whatever isn't able to draw the audiences attention into the story so their eye/attention wanders to other details. Its really too soon for some movie I think a heap of us agree on that, a well done documentary would seem to work best since there is some much we really don't know about him, but truth is we're not in control of any of those decisions, so until the final decision is made I'mma have a little fun.

It's obvious why Jamie Foxx wouldn't be a good fit to play Prince(at any age). Also, i would love to see a movie made about Prince, but in going through the posts on this thread, I'm convinced that it can't be done right. There's just too many factors at play. All around, Prince was a unique guy, and at this moment i really don't see anyone doing justice to him as a person(his complexities), and his life story. In making a Prince movie, there would have to be a balance between the effeminate Prince and the masculine Prince, and i just don't see those aspects of his personality being pulled off convincingly.


So, as someone else mentioned, i think a detailed documentary would be best.
