The problem with this isn't Glover's acting ability, etc. It's that he's so recognizable right now, that it would take the viewer out of the movie and think "Oh, it's Donald Glover trying to be like Prince". That's why I say a no-name or a new actor is better because he isn't easily identifiable. The viewer can just let the fantasy happen and it be whatever.

I think the idea of a movie at this point is unreasonable and falls sharply into the "too soon" category. However, a documentary like they did with Whitney or Bowie etc would be much more desirable and marketable. Put that in the theaters? I'm there. Hell, strike a deal with Netflix, let it flow wherever much easier. There's footage, we know there is. Concert, back stage, personal. Build the storyline, edit stuff in we've just never seen, and let it happen. I don't need to re-see interviews with him or something. Show me what happened after he left the stage.

He can do the splits. But even if he couldn't, the actor's dancing ability is not something that should be considered. You're hiring him to ACT, not dance. If there are any scenes in the movie that require him to dance then a double could be used or the scene can be framed in such a way that it could be faked.

jamie would give it a swing, he seems so desperate sometimes. he was supposed to play mike tyson who he's about as old as, directed by martin scorcese. It can't be fun worrying about becoming irrelevant all the time like most show biz people do.

If this MUST happen, I think it would be better for it to be someone that is relatively unknown, maybe a theater actor even, someone who will actually make their name from being so great in this Prince role.


I do think Donald Glover could probably pull it off, but just as a baseline, he'd have to lose a lot of weight.


I also think Leslie Odom might be able to really give it a go. He can sing very well and act. (He's on Broadway.) He's not a household name... yet.

Some are some aren't. Many roles are now by non Americans. They are all actors and they are all under 40.

brits annoy me, i figured with all that attention put into their stupid hairdos and clothes, they had to be brits. they might be better than pacino,brando and deniro all in one, i couldn't care less. I'd rather spike make good on his idea of a multipart docu on Prince, most biopics are trash anyway. Even the good ones, i personally, would rather watch a docu over a great biopic, any day.
