Yes,the lyrics seem so heartfelt. It's kinda sad the someone would willingly reject love but I think he captured ambivalence so well...Prince had such an ability to convey such a swirl of complex emotions into a limited set of words and 4 minute song. It really is a very impressive gift he had.

Such a fantastic song about love and hearbreak. Simple and intense at the same time.

I agree and well put. To me,"Here" feels very personal. The lyrics are very distinct with the mention of "golden eyes" and leaving town. I love the line "If you can learn to open your eyes under water, then you and me won't drown without each other." I think his speaking voice sounds so sweet there.

It's hard for me to determine his level of sincerity in his work though, as he was a good storyteller and a master "preformer" and reading what people wanted from him and appeasing them, I mean his livelihood depended on it. I can't really tell how much is sincere from the person or a manipulation of the audience.

That's true. I have wondered that as well. He was very good at drawing the listener into a song. Regardless of the sincerity of the lyrics to "Here" I do find them lovely and the music beautiful and uplifting. [Edited 11/7/18 18:10pm]
