Grindin by Clipse produced by Neptunes is Bob George without the humor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjWAWcx4xdE

It is a good track, but the beat is inspired by Bob George, and is not as good a track. It is still a piece of work I would have been proud to have come up with, but the influence is clear.

I never thought of Bob George as humorous. It’s actually a favorite of mine. The guitar soloing is an essential part of the story & I wish it was more pronounced in the mix. Any not even close on the comparison & I’m a Clipse fan.

I think "Grindin'" has more in common with "Roxanne, Roxanne" than Prince, IMHO. It's hip hop.

So it's Old School Hip Hop, so lazy it only has a garade door slammin' and a Garageband preset kick with the compressor turned to 11 to stand for. Big deal.

yeah, Bob George-inspired. But otherwise, made in 5 minutes, i guess. There's nothing here...

I'm not going to listen to that and I will say that unless the track has a reference to a reddish-brown wig, then to invoke the masterpiece that is "Bob George" would be a travesty.

Nothing is dated if you use it artfully.

I don't hear it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
