HitNRun Phase One — Prince’s greatest album. Change my mind. Actually, HnR Phase 1 IS in fact Prince’s greatest album...EVER! “Let’s Go Crazy” doesn’t compare to the bop of an opener that “Million Dollar Show” is! “June” is his best album closer. “Shut This Down”, “This Could B Us”, “HardRockLover” are all KILLER TRACKS I’ll say it one more time: this is his greatest album ever! Not his greatest... but I love the album. I laugh at all the haters on it here. I mean there are some deep worthy classic cuts on it. "X's Face" is one of the most {80's b-side style Prince attitude with a wink} songs he put out towards the end (and I don't mean the actual arrangment, I mean the mood and energy of his attack on it). The only track I don't really get into is #3. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I personally think that Phase One is shit. There's two good songs on there but the rest is really, really shit. But that's just my opinion. If you think it's his best album, and IF that really is your genuine opinion, then why would you want anyone to change your mind? The fact that you would even ask that of other people suggests to me that you're just taking the piss and trying to get folks to argue amongst themselves over an already divisive album. And if that's what you're doing, then that makes you a very, very sad individual. On the other hand, if you are genuine and you ACTUALLY want people to change your mind on Phase One, then I'd say you're a bit simple in the head. So basically, you're either a "troll" with no life or you're a bit of a fool. Either way, congratulations on the stupidity.

Has it not occurred to you that the voice you've read my post in is in fact the voice in your head? It's your voice, it bears your tone, and your judgement values. Are you trying to be my friend? Because you've got an interesting way of going about it. I'm ok with this, I can work with this, this is what we do. I do this. (That's an ICP reference. Get it?) Or am I wrong? Are you hurt or offended by something I said? Have I wronged you somehow? Are you upset? Do you feel trolled? As your friend, I feel obliged to inform you that if you said "yes" to any of these questions, you might be misattributing things to me which do not exist. If you don't understand what that means, how about don't sit there and tell me I'm both somehow subjective and also wrong. You can't have it both ways. So what's it going to be, chummer? I am The House. And The House says the door is open. Are you going to walk in here, fuck my shit up, and steal my properties? Ok, that's rude. We could also just chill. If I think I'm someone who thinks they're deeper than they actually are, then clearly I must dig deeper. I died once, true story. Listen... everything I've said in this thread... you must read in a voice with a friendly tone. And before you interrupted me, a youthful jubilence. You're abrasive, I'm sure you already know that. I understand I can be abrasive as well. I can understand you, I need you to understand me. If you don't understand me, we can't be friends. If we can't be friends, then you best get to stepping because you're in my way. Are you good? I enjoy a good bit of the album with the exception of the Rita Ora song,Shut This Down( love the bass at the end) and Like A Mack though I love the horns. Phase One has a similar sound to AOA to me. Mr. Nelson seems to be a remix of 'Clouds.'

I love the album and always have done. It's the closest Prince came to making a banging mixtape, and goes deeper with some of the sounds and styles used more subtly on AOA. It's a fun, enjoyable ride, I still frequently revisit and it was underrated by many here at the time. I think there are more top tier tracks on Art Official Age and HitNRun Phase 2 though, which are among my favourite Prince albums. I went out on a limb here when AOA was released and said it was his best overall album since Lovesexy, which I still believe. I was so lambasted that someone here even accused me of being a paid shill for Warner Bros, so you keep on with your unpopular opinion

It's about like most of his albums after teh mid 90's. 2 or 3 great tracks, 2 or 3 good ones, 2 or 3 average ones and 1 or 2 turds.

The first four tracks are hard to get through for me. The rest ranges from good to great, though. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Brings back good memories as I was at the listening party at PP. Into the studio tour all nights. I like the album it is different. June is probably the best tune on HNR1. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

After the Gold era most his albums (excl The Truth, TRC, Lotus, AOA and Phase 2) could go from the sublime to the ridiculous. . And Phase One is the same IMO. June, 1000 X's & O's and Hardrocklover are top tier but likes of Million $ Show, Mr Nelson and Like A Mack I can live without

I think you're trolling, but I'm interested in the whole "change my mind" fad we're in. Someone says something unconventional, and then - I guess challenges? - the rest of us to change their mind. It's so bizarrely entitled, isn't it? Like I'm supposed to care so much about your opinion that I devote my time and energy to altering it, when the truth is, I want waffles. I have a headache. I work too much. Why do you want your opinion changed anyway? If it speaks to you, great. It all boils down to the same thing: live and let live. Also, who cares?
