Oh god u orgers... Every little detail, disc 2 disc 3, the sound, the liner notes... Yes I know disc 2 was not planned before his death. I was talking about the pr remaster that prince provided wb in 2015, i already said he didn't include any extra songs...

The album has arrived on both vinyl and CD at stores and WB headquarters all over the world. I've seen the first pictures, so look forward to having it myself very soon! [Edited 9/13/18 5:56am]

Thank you for the links. Such a pointless song though, as far as I’m concerned. It really goes nowhere, does it? I’ve always wondered whether he was improvising this when he recorded it (can’t remember what Duane’s book said about it). In any case, as a peek into Prince’s creative process it’s interesting. As something I want to listen to more than a couple of times... not so much (I assume I’m in the minority, but it doesn’t do anything for me).

Odd question perhaps, but is "Mama, what's this shaking me?" a reference to his epilepsy, or is it a musical reference? The wooh is on the one!

It really is a bare bones sketch of a song and the hiss of white noise is very audible. I can't imagine even the most hardcore fan considering this any more than a curiosity. All the songs so far are very fragmented and partial. This and 'Mary' only have Prince singing one line.

With a vault full of such riches and soundboard recordings of full songs with Prince solo on piano, I can't really consider the spotlighting of this song and kind of material as anything other than utterly pathetic.

I agree. 17 Days is brilliant. The arrangement of Purple Rain is interesting because it is so different to how he played it later on. The rest for me is a curiosity. I predict I will listen to this album about three times. I hope I’m in the minority and most fans will enjoy it. It’s not all bad news, though - we’re now closer to the Tidal release. And until they announce what that will be I’ll keep my hope.

Is there any info when this was recorded? It's not mentioned in Duane's book and the closest I've seen to a time frame is 'some time in the spring of 1983'?

Nice interviews on this one. Lisa called him an underrated piano player. Very nice of her considering how good on piano she is.

. I don't know where they're getting the "January 1983" date from. There's zero evidence for this, and it's much more likely this is something from the fall of that year. . Interesting quote: .
. Hmmm, could have sworn that a couple of months ago they claimed the entire contents had been digitised. Which I said was complete BS, because it wasn't possible. . Ah, found the actual source of that article: https://www.bbc.com/news/...s-45510532 © Bart Van Hemelen

M. HOWE: "Well, this is where we get into a delicate area – because I have signed a constellation of non-disclosure agreements with the estate [but] it’s a relatively small percentage that we’ve digitised and reviewed." . This is exactly what should not be happening, fuck this! What's in this vault and what they're doing with it should be public knowledge. It wouldn't hurt the brand, and it wouldn't make Comerica pass for a sack of assholes! A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

"I can tell you this: Everything that I was hoping was in there is certainly in there, and many multiples more. Things that were only even rumoured to exist or that were completely unknown to anybody but Prince and whatever engineer was involved in the session."
Oh, yeah. | |
