Okay. Piano & Mic 83 is clearly better than Goldnigga. One Nite Alone was a essentially a bonus disc and is leaps and bounds better than Piano & Mic 83.

Wow. You really think that Piano & Mic 83 is better than One Nite Alone? I respect your difference of opinion, but that blows me away.

Yes. The One Nite Alone piano disc vs. Piano & Mic 83. I don't see how you can think that original songs like One Nite Alone, U're Gonna See Me, Have a Heart, Objects in the Mirror, Pearls B4 the Swine, Arboretum, etc. and the brilliant remake of A Case of U is not better than Piano Mic 83. Like I said, I respect the difference of opinion. There are things up to debate, but I would have never thought that ONA Piano vs. PM 83 is a debate.

That cd is a snoozer to me. That version of A Case Of You is empty of emotion of all the previous cover versions he has done..(see The Park series as welas the famed 1983 show). And here's the gist (Ive been saying gist a lot, desperate times I guess)...The Gist is that whomever, whenever, the piano version of 17 Days was heard, the reaction was much much greater than anything on some One Night Alone snoozefest.

The End.

You'd be very surprised to read what people posted here when ONA was released 16 years ago. A great majority of the fans screamed in outrage that 1/ ONA was shit, that 2/ Intimate Moments (the bootleg that contained P&AM83 and another short piano session) was much better and that 3/ Prince should have released IM instead of ONA. I shit you not!

.

So it's really shocking that today so many fans are complaining about P&AM83 being released.

Databank I remember. I was here. Thye talked mad shit about the supressed sound (you cant even tell there's an audience! its straight from his mic! etc etc), the song selection. They talked shit about the aftershow It Aint over cd. Putting Joy In Repetition againt Small Club aftershow's Just My Imagination guitar solo etc. Oh, I DO remember. Im shocked at the criticism of Piano, but the online Prince audience has a majoirty knucklehead mentality. What shocks me NOW is seeing longtime level headed ones turning knucklehead.

How can you even really objectively compare the two?? P&M '83 was Prince at age 25 rehearsing and hashing out notes and lyrics for songs. ONA piano disc is Prince at age 43 playing finished songs.

Vannormal

I dont understand you people.
This is released as an album,
But it is NOT a Prince album as such.
Its a post mortum release.
This is someone else choice, not Prince’s.
It even wasn’t an unreleased project.
-
Then again,
I LOVE IT !!!
It’s wonderful.
In 34 minutes he teaches you what a 24/25 year old can do !
All by himself !
This is a GREAT document for those who take
music in general (and Prince) serious.
-
Is it worth the fuzz? The release ?
The packaging as a solo (stand alone) album ?
NO !
-
Am i happy with the album, CD, vinyl single ?
YES ! (but that’s really unimportant)
The estate made a wrong choice imho.
Too little, too less.
But great !!!

The packaging alone of the deluxe version is worth the investment. It’s beautifully put together and makes me proud as his number #1 fan.

ONA Live was shit, and still is.

I remember on amp how everyone was slamming iot for being a halfbaked release and that everyne prefered a complete show + complete aftershow without overdubs and edits.

The ONA piano album is boring compared to P&AM83.
