Those of us of a certain age remember the comments about the injections "Dr. Feelgood" used to give President Kennedy - and others around him. They weren't B12 injections - they were amphetamines. So, I agree that Kiran looked the other way when Prince was getting whatever was in his injections. But I never remember him asking for any type of plaque or accolade for his philanthropy. And he spent money like water in the early days. Understanding that there were limited resources in the last 10 years of his life, and not knowing how much he had saved over the years, it is undestandable that he might have scrimped on some things (maintaining PP) and put the money elsewhere (into social programs). But if we think he was going downhill starting about 2011, then Andy Allo is the one who might have answers; she was with him until 2013, right? That's before the time he allegedly told Tyka he was done, IIRC?
I read that JFK received a "B-12" injection before his first meeting with Kruschev. Also, he and Jackie both got the injections before the Inaugural Ball. Yes, unfortunately, I also believe P's "B-12" injections were likely amphetamines. His poor band, how did they keep up with the soundchecks, shows and after-shows? I don't recall them getting B-12 injections. Andy Allo was so young and she has kept alot of information to herself. I admire her poise and respect for their private experience. [Edited 8/9/18 6:59am] Yes!!! On Andy and her poise and respect for their private Experience. |

That is not a picture of someone that is sad about having to cancel a concert. Wonder when he had it made. Wonder if it's the pic he sent Tyka.

Awesome shot. Thanks for sharing. He didn't look well. He looks sad. I think Denise's passing hurt him deeply more than most want to admit..never noticed the V before last night...it was as if it went through the ceiling and he is standing in the center as if it was all for her. |

That "V" was actually two spotlights shining down on the piano from different angles, spotlighting Prince and the piano. I was at the last two concerts.

It's not a picture of Prince at all, but a piece of artwork. It was posted to his page when he cancelled the concert. But, we had also learned that a long-time employee of the Fox in Atlanta had passed away that same day.

He wasn't sad during the concert. He was laughing and joking with us and carrying on through the concert. He would often smile out at the audience and even got up and did his pimp walk around the piano at one point. That picture is ONE MOMENT in time at the end of the end. It was not reflective of Prince for that entire night.

That's good to know from someone who was actually there. As far as the artwork, the artist had to have time to create it...it seems strange that he would have been able to get it to P so quickly after someone just passed. Maybe (because of computers), but I don't know anything about the artist. Is it possible he had it made previously, and used the concert cancellation as an opportunity to put it out there? I realize hindsight is 20/20.

Funny you mention that Penny. After reading some of the latest posts, I was feeling a bit nostalgic myself, so I re-watched the Jan/18 video on YouTube "Prince - Last Year of a Legend" (I'm sure most of you have seen it (www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7x7Osh7sI)). It's so sad to think of everything he accomplished in that last year, and then suddenly he was gone. I was struck though, by how much more frail and ill he looked as the last year progressed. (Yes, I agree Benni - there are clips from those concerts and whether he was ill or not, his music and audience was his lifeblood - it energized him, no question). It did make me wonder again...was he ill? What did he mean by that cryptic tweet when he said something to the effect of "just when you think you're safe". We all know the mechanism of his death - poison, essentially - but I can't help thinking there was something else going on. I suspect we'll never get the answers. What a talent. What a loss.

Was I worried about him during the concert? Yes. He did look extremely thin. And at one point, I thought he looked ill, but it could have been the lighting as well, because when the lighting changed, his color improved.

Not really, because all they added was the tear. The picture itself was the same one as his avatar, just with the added teardrop.

Penny, I mentioned one time before, in another thread not long after he passed, my concern was real. I had mentioned to a friend on the 17th, who was wondering why Prince was suddenly doing these intimate concerts, why he had dedicated the Piano & Mic shows to his dad, why he was writing a memoir, that "Prince is thinking about giving up this mortal coil." After we got the news that he passed, I was talking with that friend and told him, "I take it back!" He told me that I couldn't, and even if I could, it wouldn't change anything.
Later, I was looking through some old emails I had sent him about some dreams I had had, one from December 2016 in which I told him that Prince was going to die, and another, along the same vein from October/November of 2016.

Since you sensed something during the concert, if only for a moment, when you first heard about plane incident, were you as surprised as many of us? |
