Well there was little footage (at the beginning). After this, there was also an instrumental with the Linn Drum that I didn’t recognized (probably unreleased). But otherwise those two details, I agree with the fact that there’s not really any new discoveries unfortunately. It was disappointing.

I thought it was one of the better documentarys about him. But too much Andre Cymone with his "it could have been me" attitude. It would have been better to interview Wendy and Lisa or Susan Rogers who have some more interesting things to say.

Really? That's disappointing. Why isn't Andre more happy with his life? After all, he is still alive and kicking and married and presumably surrounded by people who love him. Andre just can't forgive Prince, it sounds like. But, Prince's life obviously wasn't a bed of roses.

Andre does not really come across as unhappy or jealous. That is not what I meant. But I think he exaggerates his influence on Prince a bit too much for my taste.

Oh, but still can't it just be about PRince's inherent qualities and not about him?

I actually found the film quite nice. Every ex-bandmember came across as a genuine admirer of Prince.

What was the piano version of NC2U at the end? That was not officially released, or was it?

It wasn't bad at all. I was entertained (nothing new or no new revelations if you are already a TPF) for the duration of the documentary. I was surprised they were able to get permission to play all that music and concert footage. I wAs thrown off at the beginning though when they played that clear footage from the abandon Chuck Statler directed movie/documentary but it was only a snippet (less than a minute) of it.

i enjoyed that ... nothing too new ... but also no too long drawn out "in depth" studies of his death or rumors and such ... just positivity ...

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Yeah not bad, nothing special but nice to see stuff from the 90's onwards talked about.

In the interests of balance, Tommy Barbarella makes a lot of authorship claims that if his surname was Melvoin would bring the org down on him like a ton of bricks so I think we should all take a moment to formally denounce him hammer

I actually thought this was very good.
I liked that Morris Hayes acknowledged that it must have been difficult for Prince to want to speak in a “higher” language, and others around him just weren’t ready to hear it.

André has become perhaps the most selfless friend in speaking about Prince after his passing. Sheila on the other hand, much as I love her, associates herself very strongly with Prince.

No big deal. People will act differently about this. We’re all still growing.
I’m only glad that people are willing to share so much with us now.
Thank you, associates.

What does he claim he wrote? I have much more respect for Melvoin. She was willing to tour with Prince when he was alive, unlike Tommy who declined in 2011, but has been touring with NPG since p's death.

I don't get the appreciation for the documentary.
I thought it sucked big time.
Who cares about people repeating how great he was?

The producer obviously had zero budget, so he ended up with mostly vultures
craving for the exposure: 2 bland song excerpts from Andre (some nightmare from the eighties,
a photocopy of Lenny Kravitz), a self-righteous "top female" bassist player with a purple dong on the head, unicorn my ass,
Sheila getting uglier with every year passing (and again her disturbing proposal story, which no one ever heard of all these years,
except herself), the photograph who shot the homonym album cover (who gives a shit) who tells us Prince was androgyn (Duh!),
a lady well in her sixties who thinks she's still in her twenties whose only exploit is a past hit no one cares about, and, cherry on turd, a... Game Boy!

It's obvious Morris, Sonny and Tommy chimed in for free,
still they got absolutely nothing interesting out of them.

Pathetic documentary, the title suggested a wreck anyway.
Now if you think a very few seconds of unreleased stuff
is worth an hour of this shit, good for you.
What a big fat waste of my time.

And SOTT The Movie... I hate to say this, because I loved it so much for years,
but now every viewing leaves a bad taste in the mouth: I see how much playback
there is (my guess is all of it is dubbed), and it really pisses me off.
Visually, it was arguably his best tour (the images are really faithful to
what the actual concert experience was), but here's the best pop performer ever doing... playback.

Prince doing playback. I mean, either give me the grainy Rotterdam film, or give me the audio track
from the Minneapolis shootings, anything but...
Playback. Ow Lawd.

Honestly I think just because his career didn't end in a quick 30 year synopsis from 1990-2016 it stood out as a bit different, I think it's great to see an interview with a Game Boy! I'd largely agree otherwise (although Andre's 80's work is brilliant if you're into that specific niche, AS YOU SHOULD BE). I'm not mad on the SOTT film or the Lovesexy VHS shows but I recognise that others are so I try not to moan about them too much.

I just watched it. I wasn't crazy about it either but it was a good effort. It often feels like PRince is the mystery in the middle of these documentaries; and this one at times felt like the people who agreed to be interviewed said "only if I can show a clip of my own work". Also Tommy taking credit for Sexy M.F. the way he did was b.S.. At the very least, it should be considered a band jam. He seemed like a bitter man (maybe rightfully so, but still--its disingenuous if you have nothing nice to say) who just took the NPG gigs for some work and was forced to be interviewed-- I dont think he and P were close at all.. It sounds like Prince kept him at arm's length for the reason MOrris expressed (he didn't want to get too close because he didn't know how long he would keep him.) Sonny suprised me though. I loved hearing from him. I am glad P had MOrris--he seemed to have the right kind of sensitivity and understanding and understood that Prince's intimacy issues weren't personal. Damon D seemed cool but I resent the fact that he was claiming that Prince wasn't funky anymore after becoming a JW..obviously, he wasn't listening to his later music with much fluency or at all. Sheila E gave him good credit but retold that engagement story again. Nik West was cool. The other singer whom I had never heard of was completely unneeded. Andre was cool (but like I said, self promoting his album and that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.)
