HnR phase 1 hands down. I like it, but easily his worst album.

The only exceptionally bad album is THE TRUTH.

N.E.W.S = Muzak for the most part Indigo Nights = so many other inspiring aftershow gigs he could have put out so why this one? IMO all other Prince albums have enough high points to lift them above a "worst" category (ie. They are not "stinkers") but there are a few weaker albums for sure. 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

for you has never been a fave just from a songwriting perspective. Prince i have always loved, dirty mind didn't have great songs or great production.. “When u were mine “ is a classic song. “Dirty Mind” is where Prince started the foundation for his own sound. A classic album [Edited 7/30/18 11:50am] BOB4theFUNK

Does Gold Nigga count?
If not, the Symbol ablum. I have never been able to get into it. And I've tried.

It’s a funny thing but a lot of Prince albums aren’t great. Some are pretty dire, many are patchy but with the occasional, unparalleled brilliance and some are just imperfect diamonds. None are perfect, perhaps Dirty Mind or ATWIAD the best?.
And looking at the responses here, opinions are very divided. If an album has 7 total turkeys but 2 of the top 20 bestest ever Prince songs, how does it fare in an overall opinion? I don’t ever listen to The Rainbow Children except when I have some new headphones and I use 1+1+1=3 to test the bass on the first 30 seconds or so. But it has some tunes that are ok. Not to hijack a thread, just an honest question here, do many people listen to albums as a whole nowadays? From virtually day one of my music listening life I have made my own compilations. Do I really want to sit through 8 minutes of Temptation when I could listen to She’s Always in My Hair? Perhaps Prince (and most of the music industry) lost its way in making a cohesive musical collage that would be a complete album... I never listen to Rave, NEWS, Rainbow Children or One Night Alone live. [Edited 7/30/18 14:17pm] The Earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.

I see no redeeming value in MplSound.
I’d have to say it’s the absolute worst Prince album by FAR! [Edited 7/31/18 11:24am]

For the most part NEWS is boring background/elevator music. 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' You don't even like Here or Dance 4 Me? Hell no!! The entire 90’s output minus The Truth and Come can be on the worst list, but MPLSound tops everything the 90’s can throw at it. [Edited 7/31/18 14:49pm]

I stand corrected on the "Reflection" song (Totally forgot about that) His performance of that song with Wendy on the Tavis Smiley show was among my fave. The album is still a least favorite of mine though.
