Since the investigation thread keeps getting derailed with what may have motivated the accidental overdose, I thought it would be a good idea to have a separate thread to discuss those things and ensure the investigation thread stays on track.

While, anything anyone could come up with as to what might have motivated Prince to hide his use of pain pills, or the extent to which he was using them, or what might have motivated him to turn to them, would be conjecture, I would ask that everyone please be polite to each other in your responses.

The reason this thread is needed, I think, is because there are those individuals that need to know the why of a thing in order to let it go. However, in this situation, we can never get the why because the only one that knows can't tell us. But maybe by understanding what may have precipitated him hiding the pills from everyone, might allow some people to get more closure.

If it is related to the investigation, please post in that thread. This is strictly for discussing possible motivating factors in:

1. His reasons for possibly turning to the pain pills (outside of the obvious pain he was feeling from years of high impact performances)

2. His possible reasons for hiding a) pain and b) his manner of dealing with the pain

And if anyone else can think of something else to add, let me know and I'll add it.

What’s the point since, as you say, the only one who can answer these questions is gone? This thread will just become another full of speculation and assumptions.

Rogi, that's why I said anything posted would be conjecture. But it's apparent from the other thread that people need to try to figure out a "why" that allows them to gain some closure.

I think you are right benni. Those who do want to look at this kind of stuff do need another thread so that the investigation thread stays on track. Good idea
