Too difficult to rate. I don't even listen to it if I don't have time to hear the whole thing, because I love them all.

On a related note, has it ever been discussed here, or elsewhere, that Anna Stesia may have been inspired by Anna Fantastic? It never really occurred to me before just recently. Then, I looked on Princevault, and it was recorded shortly after her 18th birthday, while they were together.

Then I revisited it again a couple of years ago and now I absolutely love it!!!!!

There are some incredible songs on there and it tightly fits together.

People REALLY don't like Positivity or Dance On? Those are 2 of the most intense songs on there!

If there's a song not to like, it's probably the title track, though I like the bass register in which he sings it.

Let's see: Eye No(most of it I like, except for the No,Yes call response part), Alphabet St.(Love), Glam Slam(really like, especially the strings and keyboard outro), Anna Stesia(like...but haven't felt the urge to seek it out and listen to it, given the spiritual subject matter), Dance On(Love...really intense musically and love the lyrics..."NUCLEAR BAN NEVER STAYS IN TUNE. THEY ALL KNOW THE WORDS BUT THE MUSIC IS DOOMED!"), Lovesexy(corny musically), I Wish You Heaven(Love it, especially the guitar and floatiness of it all--also love the extended version), Positivity(Love the way he sings it, intense musically...Hold ON to your Soul...we got a long way...to go! Na, na, na, na, na, na...slow, slow)

Now you know the song really starts when Prince is having that maniac laughs, don't you.
It's one of his most extraordinaire instrumental montages ever, no George Martin or Brian Wilson not their engineers have been where Prince has been. He practically reinvents Phil Spector, a whole orchestra without the orchestra, it's hard to believe there's not a big band going on but no, this was also meant to be replicable on stage.

The verses and chorus on "Lovesexy" are there only as en excuse. But they set Prince's credo and creeds, don't underestimate their importance, he reclaims an awakening. Myself the rhythm guitar on the left gets a bit on my nerves. But there's so much going on, I've already forgot about it by the time everyone joins in.


If there's a song to like, it's probably the title track, if only for the censorship "beep", and the 33rmp and 45rpm homage, or rather a goodbye to vinyl, with Prince's first release of a CD album. He mixes and matches female and male voice, and blurs them both, wholly. It's deep, yet so funny and frivolous.

It's 1988. The times they are a changin'. Those "Hair" choir, it's "The Age of Aquarius" all over again, except there's an orgy going on in Central Park. That guitar solo! Maybe the best studio recording of the Blue Angel, if that's her.

Prince's voice morphing into Camille morphing into Bob George redeemed, a magic trick he never repeated.
But never failed to reference later on in his career.
You don't deflower a fantastic idea more than once in Prince's mind: so many songs, so little days.

The layering in the final reprise is the closest thing to resemble to the Pearly Gates,
along with the finale of "All My Dreams" or the intro of "I Wanna Be Your Lover",
you know, these octaves in ostinato, like waters falling.

No. I listened to Lovesexy, the song. I still don't love it. I do like the silly talk to the woman towards the end and the segue into When 2 R In Love! I think the music for the song is corny...the guitar solos aren't bad. I don't care for the message of the song!

I'd rather listen to Dance On or Positivity!!!
