I assume the author, Hamish Whitta, is the same Hamish at the excellent Prince Off The Record blog - http://www.princerecordings.com/. I've always enjoyed reading his reviews of Prince's live bootlegs over the years.

I bet, 3-2-1.. someone will be complaing.. soon...

I am no longer a bootleg "fanatic", (like I was in the late 80's and 90's...)

But.. I have still a few books from the Uptown team back then.. some written by Per Nilsen (Sweden)


I love The Vault, you know.... the true Prince bible... I can't remember if Per Nilsen wrote it:


Brilliant, but unfortunately that older book "The Vault" is almost impossible to read hence a very, very small font used.


Anyway hopefully this book (above) is excellent & with great insight...

Im interested in this from historical perpsective and some analysis. Just like Alan Lights and the Tudahl book,. In fact Im more with these books than the upcoming book by Prince because god knows what kind of flowery mystic ish is going to be in it. Many of these books released now have information on seminal works that have been catalogued, detailed, etc. that we never got from the oficial camp after 40 years or so. And I'm not talking about biographies that every tom dick n harry who was a fan has written since his death or close to it.

Haha! Part of me really wants to believe his actual sex life was as big as his sexual persona; but for some reason I think he wasn't as big as all that in real life (I'm not talking "size"... I mean aggression, kinkiest, etc. I also for some reason have a feeling he was more orally fixated than anything...which is of course great for the ladies.

and the sex loverman thing...you know what they say, if you always talk about it etc? He may have daliances with other women while in relationships ( may!) but for the most part that isn't out of the norm of rock star behavior. Where are the stories of Princes "freaky" side..all the women always say that he treats them like a queen etc...where are the reports of Prince doing something ever so kinky? He gave head to his geetar on stage, showed his ass on tv, made a living off of putting forth a sex machine in 23 positions kind of guy..and not one report on something other than the missionary? Of course one wouldn't expect a stars sex life to be fodder for front page news or biographies because writers weren't there, but come on! Prince said in Playboy in 80-81 that there should be a 2 p.m. sex break. He sang darling Nikki and Sister. Is Prince all talk?..a fake?..it may all be a myth yessireee bob! Wouldn't that break a lotta womens hearts to finally get him and he turns out to be a dead lay? he may be able to write them a tune but can he realy "get it up and work his stick" outside of the studio?

Although I must say, I am reading that "Prince and the Purple Rain Studio Sessions" book and it is brilliant! I feel like that is the kind of book that won't become dated and it is also providing us with information that things like even Prince's own memior won't
