Striclty the same I guess, but I haven't compared it note for note. The edit is new, though, but I wonder whether it's a contemporary edit or (as I fear) an edit made just now. Also, even if it's better than the bootleg there's an awful hiss on it so it's just from a cassette, not from the vault. I wonder if they will ever add Hit N Run albums, 3121, Gold Experience, etc on Spotify. I have many albums on itunes, some of them on Spotify, some of them ripped from physical copies but i would prefer to have them all in one place. And Spotify is the easier way when i'm not home. | |

Haha I hope not. I can't hear any "faults" in the mix that exist on mine, such as very slight ghosting of Paul's vocals in places. I don't think they'd be that sad to try and pass off a fan mix as an official multi-track... [Edited 4/19/18 10:39am] | |

I saw Prince's name trending and was happy. And saw they released a new demo, so I was thrilled = instant click/watch! And then I listened to the vocals and the music and I was stoked But while watching that footage.... those smiles...that face...
Left heartbroken all over again. I was tearing up at work Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

It's possible since the guy they mentioned in the press release as the 'Prince Estate's official vault archivist' is a Warner employee As remembered by Michael Howe, long-time industry A&R executive, Prince expert, and the Prince Estate’s official Vault Archivist, “I spotted the 2″ multitrack reel in the Vault some weeks back while doing a 1984-era inventory. After retrieving my jaw from the floor, we took the reel upstairs, analyzed it, put it up on the Studer 24 track machine, and digitized it to 24/192. Even our ‘faders up’ rough mix was compelling enough to indicate that this was something very special indeed.”

The intro always reminded me a bit of Imagine by John Lennon. Although it's nice, I hate to say it but always felt he made the right decision giving it to Sinead, she added so much more poignancy and emotional impact to it I felt. I think he was good at knowing when to give his stuff away to someone that could make it even better (think Chaka and her far superior version of I Feel 4 U).
However, after 2 years I would have hoped we'd have got something more than this to be released (especailly as many of us have heard a very similar version already on bootleg).
