Amazing. I think Prince would have really loved this. I can't remember who said it, but someone who worked for him once asked Prince what he felt he didn't get enough credit for and Prince said his lyrics. He said that bad lyrics are real pet peeve of his and that he puts a lot of effort into his lyrics so that they're almost poetic. So anyway, this video really highlights how clever and emotive he could be with his words, particularly how vividly it paints the scene of the two young characters in the story.

I've always thought Raspberry Beret was one of his very best lyrically speaking. It's such a perfect pop song. It's masterful in the way it's both so figurative and yet playful. The playfulness and humour really fits with the young naiviety of the two characters in the story:

'Built like she was she had the nerve to ask me if I planned to do her any harm' - I love the humor in this. It makes you imagine that shes slightly on the portly side and must of looked funny next to his famously petite frame. You really get the feeling that the narrator is older now and reminiscing of his youth, and being wiser he can see the funny side of things.

'The rain sounds so cool when it hits the barn roof, and the horses wonder who you are' - Oh my, this line is just BEAUTIFUL.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Dandan, agreed. His lyrics alone could stand as poetry.

This video was cute! Would love to see a follow up with the guy talking about Nikki!!
