Let's be clear. Hardcore fans are ok with whats been coming out. Prince-orgers are dissatisfied. But you know how orgers are.
Last night was a disgrace to hardcore fans or (should be to) any Prince fan as far as that goes. Prince fans on Idol's page told them so, also.
And purplemist7777, I will NOT support any of the associates. We (the fans) will keep his legacy alive by passing it down to our children and grandchildren, and families. What do you think our parents did with us, with the groups they listened too.
New stuff will be coming out of Prince's it just will take patience.

The performances were just bad. And not just the Prince songs. The Voice isn’t any better. Some of the changes they made to these shows are awful. No constructive criticism from the judges and people can start voting as soon as the show starts so it’s not about the performances that night it’s just a popularity contest. I get the Estate feels this is a good way to expose Prince music to a younger audience and generate some income. But if they do this again I hope they work out a deal where a Prince associate is a guest mentor or something to hopefully make the songs selections and arrangements better. Paisley Park is in your heart

I didnt see it and dont care to. That said, I dont give one entire sh!t if they all sounded terrible. There is absolutely no negative that comes from an Idol Prince episode. None, Zero, Nada
So much dumb in one thread. As far as waiting on new stuff to spark some kind of Prince music revolution amongst the masses? Thats just absurd. He passed away and it was just about the hits and Purple Rain. Even if some amazing new single were to come out and top the charts, it would be short lived. (Insert something clever here) |

Agreed, and that is coming from someone who doesn't like these types of shows at all. And I also think you are right about the rest of it too. We really do need to support the legacy by encouraging the estate to come up with new ventures to present to younger generations. They aren't going to just go out there and purchase music by an older artist who is unknown to them, just not gonna happen. This has to be done if there's to BE a legacy to support. New fans must be drawn in, no matter how much us current fans dislike the methods used. And people who come with the "well Prince wouldn't have liked this, etc...?" I'm gonna call bullshit on that way of thinking too. People seem to forget that Prince WANTED his legacy to go on, wanted PP to run as a museum. To even think he didn't realize that things were going to be different from what he may have done is just ridiculous, the man was never ever stupid. I still think he took care of what he wanted done a certain way and left the rest to be looked after by the estate and his heirs. We have to help as best we can and being supportive of efforts made is a very easy way to do it.

Well, no one will know until they try it. And they really need to move forward with this. If younger people don't know P's music, they may also not know what his version sounds like, so they may have liked what they heard. And I have to say that there's been positive stuff said out there, by fans too
I'm sure that the estate would love to hear people's ideas on how to come up with money to keep things going. If you have any, consider letting them know
