I must be missing where the bad news is located in the article.

As in people covering his songs. I think some musicians are particulary hard to cover well, and he is one of them. Sorry if you missed that.

I am not going to waste my energy getting upset about this kind of stuff, there's no point. Things have changed and there is nothing we can do about the entertainment deals that are being negotiated by the estate. The bottom line really is making sure Paisley Park has the funding needed to stay open. Deals like this will no doubt be a way of ensuring that. I am also always willing to be pleasantly surprised by those who think they can do his music justice, but no one will ever replace him.

There isnt one single negative to this. Any focus on Princes music and legacy is a good thing, especially on a stage like American Idol. Sales will again spike and Prince will be a topic of conversation and reverence.

I do not watch that show but I might for this. not that I WANT to see it but I want to support his music getting out there. My advice is to sing it however you like... but do not try to be Prince.

please prince had country sounding songs... many of his songs could be countryfied just fine... a great song will often work across several styles or genres.
