How Did You Celebrate Prince Today?

4ee053813723d09088677169a11f8705--my-prince-prince-meme.jpg

I happened to see this meme and it all was like a fog lifted from my brain. I've been so caught up in my own melodrama (my husband of >20 years cheated on me and moved in with the skank (who broke up her own marriage to break up mine) on Mother's Day last year.) We are still settling on the house and other things. I have a very good lawyer and wonderful family and friends. Just within the past couple of days the cloud of extreme hatred has been lifted from my existence and has been replaced by objective wisdom. I am still pursuing all that is legally entitled to me. And I KNOW whatever happens, I will be OK.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Yesterday I gave my son's barely used trumpet (bought brand new 10 years ago) to a young Latina girl who is starting in band next year but wanted the instrument for summer practice
  2. Two days ago I gave a 15 year old Yamaha keyboard to an African American Baptist Church near my son's Alma Mater. This church likes to have instruments on which their youth can practice.
  3. I walked in to the local high school and donated $100 to their music program.
  4. I had a solo lunch at my latest favorite restaurant (Peruvian) and had splurged $6 on a glass of Chilean wine and toasted Prince.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Understand please, I'm not looking for praise. But for me, the cheap-ass person that I am, I want to make a difference however small it may be. I've seen many greater acts of kindness from people on the Org. You are inspirational.

By listening to 1999 (bought at the record store day today) and this: http://oe1.orf.at/player/...421/510908 (Austrian radio station Oe1 commemorated Nina Simone and Prince in one show).

Listened to his music— had it on shuffle— and watched his movies. Finished watching Purple Rain and Under the Cherry Moon this afternoon. Will watch Graffiti Bridge and Sign O’ the Times tonight.

I'm not celebrating him dead in the lobby of Paisley Park. I celebrate him every day and every time I listen to his music or watch a video.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I don't believe in 'celebrating' on the day of a person's death.

God I haven't been on here in so long! I planted a tree this day 2 years ago, it's blooming now. I went to see Prince memorabilia last weekend..it showed hand written lyrics and short stories, his clothes and jewellery..was sad. Never thought I'd be viewing these so soon. Watched Rave in2the year 2000 show tonight, really enjoyed it. Love to you all 😍

WATCH THIS: https://www.youtube.com/w...45ZaiMBHio

Prince literally said "I will celebrate the day I die". Because he believed he would be moving onto the next path in life.

He didn't believe in birthdays either as technically we only have one birthday which is the day we were born.

I dislike celebrating the anniversary of his leaving. But the estate, family, powers that be insist upon making a big deal this time of year soooo I waited until today to watch the newly released rehearsal footage video and early studio recording of Nothing Compares To You. And then I ugly cried. I tend to celebrate him every day. He, his music, is sort of woven into the fabric of my life. Most recently I've been listening to The Purple Current.

The same way as everyday, by playing his music - And by sharing with a fellow fan of Avicci who died one day before, and two years after.

I listened to Parade in the car yesterday, and today I played a mix of his music while riding around and running errands. I also caught a handful of videos on BET this morning, I assume they showed a whole block but I caught only the tail end of it.

Point taken. I appreciate your speaking up. Not as "woke" as I thought and I should open my mind some more. clueless

they do the same with elvis for some strange reason. birthdays seem to be a better day to do it but fans tend to pick one or the other.

I went to my local Record Store Day event and picked up the 1999 re-release. The timing was just so perfect.

As I'm on my way home from Minneapolis, I haven't celebrated it in any special way. I was just listening to his songs on train. It was very lovely to see purple people across the city though smile I'd rather celebrate the day he was born, to note that he first of all was here, not that he departed. I still believe his soul resides here among us.

Remembered to wear purple. Checked someone respectfully, who dared to talk smack about him in my presence (do no harm but take no ish). And I have had Pope on repeat for the past few days.

Honestly, I celebrate him all day every day.

I listened to his music (of course) while cleaning, then went to a local fund raiser to support the farming community sporting my Prince necklace.

All Prince music on my local radio station. Traveled to Houston...all Prince on a local station. Went to a random bar and they had Purple Rain movie playing on the big screen.

Plus sent/received a lot of love to friends and family via Princely texts, gifs and memes.

Watched a few documentaries on tv since Friday then watched Purple Rain alone in my room. I’ll probably watch UTCM tonight. It still sad for me to watch these movies but then I think how blessed we were to have him and his talents in our lifetime.
