Last night, before I went to bed, I said a prayer for Prince. If you are not religious or spiritual, you may find it corny, but this is what I said in my prayer:

Prince:

I am so very sorry what happened to you. I'm so sorry you were in so much pain and suffering. Please know that we all love you, more than words can ever say, and we miss you immensely. Please know that we hold no judgment against you. You are not in pain any longer. You are at peace now. Your legacy is your music, and we will cherish that forever. I did see that, yes. He was complaing of pain running down his leg.

-

I have to say, for all the talk here that he was incapacitated with hip pain or similar, there's very little mention of that in the interviews. No one really mentions noticing that he had trouble walking or anything like, or about him complaining of it. Judith said he complained of pain in his hands, and in early April he complained of the tingling and numbness in his arms and leg. Kirk I think alludes to him limping one day, and Kirk told Dr S that "hip pain" was the reason P needed the percocets, but that was pretty much it.

-

Also there was a lot of talk here about how unusual it was he was found in the elevator. Judith says that in fact he used the elevator "all the time."

[Edited 4/20/18 9:24am]

imo there are quite a few discrepancies

I work with elderly and disabled individuals, and the description being given, sounds a lot like peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the peripheral nerves and results in a tingling, painful, or burning sensation in the extremities. It most commonly occurs in the legs. Other symptoms of peripheral neuropathy can include weakness and numbness.

So Kirk told Shulenberg that other people in Prince's inner circle knew that the opiates issue was going on for a number of years...page 125 of the statement transcript which is Shulenberg's interview with the police...

Kirk on the other hand says that he only learned of the opiates problem the around the Moline incident...weird...I thought Kirk was part of the 'inner circle'...

I know that sickening feeling in the pit of your stomach. As painful as it was to see those images of Prince laying lifeless on the floor, it helps a lot of us find closure with his death. We now know more of what he was dealing with. I know he is at peace now and he wouldn't want any of us to be sad.

I know, I don't understand that either. How could Kirk only have known about Prince's issues with pills just weeks before he died? Seems unlikely, if you ask me.

what is heartbreaking is that Prince asked for help following the Moline incident and the wheels were in motion to get him help. It's like everything happened in the blink of an eye or so they make it seem...

Question, since I am yet to read all the documents, did Prince take genuine Vicodin as well or only the counterfeit one? If he took the genuine one, who gave that to him? how did he obtain it?

IF
it was a longer addiction problem, there were probably ebbs & flows. Kirk may have held back and still not be guilty of anything, except bad judgement on a speeding train. It is SO easy to blame Kirk.

The Star Tribune today said he cradled Prince like a baby and carried him down the steps of the plane in Moline to get Narcan from the paramedics. That is heartbreaking and does not sound like someone scheming for Prince's demise. The lieutenant is not chosen for being the brightest bub.

Seeing Prince walking into Dr. Schulenberg's office is proof that he wanted to get help and get off the pills. He did not seem "agitated" at all, from what many of us can tell. Also, did you notice Prince was not walking with a "cane", or limping? He seemed to be walking fine, imo.

.

My heads a mess right now, but I don't think Prince was ever prescribed Vicodin.

So true!! nod

After seeing the pictures, videos and Kirk's text messages with Dr. Schulenberg, It's clear that he was trying to help his friend, Prince. I can't imagine the stress of trying to get a friend help, and trying to be discreet about it. I have changed my opinion about Kirk. I do believe he was trying to help Prince. However, I still do question his statements regarding how long he knew of Prince's problem with pills. I do believe he knows more than what he told investigators. I have a hard time believing that Kirk was not aware of the illegal pills.

The "serious illness" theory: There's nothing in anything I've read that alludes to Prince having a serious illness like cancer. No one mentions him complaining of anything other than tingling/pain in his hands and leg (he saw a chiropractor in his final weeks) and vomiting. In the interviews the people say he seemed generally healthy, but thinner lately and having the "flu." He had no regular doctor (per Kirk) and Dr S said he had seen Prince only twice (the 2 April appointments).

------------------------------------

there was a filled prescription bottle of Ondansetron, filled at Walgreens, that P was taking, that was prescribed to Kirk Johnson...Onadansetron is used to relieve the extreme nausea caused by chemotharapy and HIV/AIDS medicines...

maybe, I don't know, I lack a medical background...still...I agree with you that Kirk probably knew of the addiction...maybe he trusted Prince self administering the Vicodin and only realized it was life threatening only on the airplane...and that when he actioned, that's when he tried to get him help. But that was a big gamble nonetheless to take pills from the streets for God knows how long...and look what happened...

This is pure ignorance on my behalf, but I'll ask it anyways - is there a difference between addiction to pain medication and using that medication recreationally? like, was Prince hooked on it because of his hip pain and couldn't stop or was he using it recreationally? or both?

Judith's statement said at the hospital Prince admitted to Kirk and her that there were pills in the aspirin bottles. Apparently Kirk asked Prince where he got the pills and Prince didnt answer.

Here's where my antanne goes haywire..

Prince was given Pecocet, NOT Vicodin via KJ and Dr.S. Percocet is not a physical "replica" of Vicodin, so MY question to this Mentz guy is Where the hell does he get off thinking Prince "didn't know"....

Prince MAY not have known that Fentanyl was laced in the drug, but I'm quite sure that he was aware that the fake pill was not the prescribed percocet. JMO
