In order to match his eclectic nature, Prince surrounded himself with eclectic people. Karen Krattinger wore many hats during her five-year tenure with the elusive rock star, first working as production coordinator on the Purple Rain Tour, then moving to Minneapolis to become general manager of PRN Productions, road manager for the Revolution, and perhaps most importantly, Prince’s on-the-call executive assistant. She also handled the interior design of Paisley Park Studios and Prince's personal residence. Seemingly overnight, their relationship evolved from brief morning courtesies to emergency phone calls and impromptu party arrangements, with Krattinger in charge of gathering and assimilating information for a man who remained unremittingly creative.

Nice to see an interview with her since I've read so much about her time with Prince. Thanks for sharing!

The video the OP posted contains a very short Batdance scene with the blonde dancer (around 0:14), right after she says 'I liked to describe at the time that I was one of his women' as if to illustrate one of the work she did for him.

I like her, she was real and it seems she had to deal with Prince's day to day shit - the garbage behind all the glitz, sweeping up the stardust. She looked dedicated too and still hanging around the park - she obviously developed a huge admiration bordering on love for Prince, and she was blonde and leggy - Prince's type, although I doubt anything improper went on.

The house in the photo, looks a lot like the one, he built near Paisley in 1985/86 to replace the Kiowa trial one he gave to his father. This was the house where Susannah was and as in the song Crystal Ball "My baby paints pictures of sex, all over the walls in graphic details", referring to Susannahs new hobby, while Prince was making his greatest ever music in the studio.

"Paisley Park is in Your Heart" - Interview with Karen Krattinger

"[Prince's father] was a lovely human being. ... I think you have to have a love of God to have a heart like that."

Thanks to Prince's former press agent Robyn Riggs, I was able to get in touch with Karen Krattinger, who worked as Prince's production coordinator, road manager and general manager of PRN Productions from 1984 to 1989. She also helped build Paisley Park Studios.

Krattinger shared her experience returning to the Minnesota complex after Prince's death. I'm not sure if much of this will make it into my book, so I'll include it here:

"I absolutely lost my breath and burst into an emotional crying and heaving that shocked me," Krattinger said of walking into Paisley Park. She and other former employees took the public tour, which was a treat for the guides.

"They loved hearing our stories because everything they're going on is a script that someone gave them," Krattinger said. She also expressed that she was happy to be there even though she wasn't able to see her old office or the board room she decorated.

The parts of the interview I'll definitely use include Krattinger's details about Prince's relationship with his family. I always like asking people about Prince's dad, whose own spiritual beliefs may or may not have influenced Prince.

Krattinger said she considered Prince to be a spiritual person. Major Prince fans will know Krattinger was tangentially connected to "Blue Tuesday," an important day in Prince spiritual history (more on that in the book), so it was nice to chat a bit about that.

Because of Krattinger, I was able to get interviews with more of Prince's former employees (check back for those). I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to speak with someone so significant in Prince's career in the 1980s. And Krattinger told me her parents met in Columbus, Ohio, where I currently live! Honestly, I have experienced so many coincidences on this journey that I'm not surprised by them anymore.

What else, because Prince's folks were from Louisiana, they just had to be voodoo practitioners, depsite the fact both were not Cajun or had French sounding names (Shaw and Nelson are very Anglo/Black names).

The shit was also applied to MJ in a shitty gossip book I read about him, where it said MJ sacrified monkeys to a voodoo god to stay famous and that Michael and Prince frequently hexed each other and that Prince gave Bubbles ESP or a voodoo curse. The weirdest voodoo rumour was that in 2003, MJ paid a voodoo doctor in Mali called Baba, to sacrifice 42 cattle and say "Tommy Mottola and Steven Spielberg be gone". The doctor was paid $150k to do it, you know its lies when Vodou as its known is from Benin, Togo and parts of Nigeria, not Mali which is strictly Islamic and Islam takes a very dim view of folk religions.

Given Krattinger was white, it seems very unlikely Prince would entrust her with any voodoo or any other weird shit. Voodoo almost must be the most misunderstood religion in history, all this shit about Zombies (Actually a trance known as Nzambi that can be affected by plants) and skulls, devil worship, hexes and hoodoo are Hollywood inventions based on racism. Proper voodoo is an African indigenous nature worship based around spirits and offerings, along with a pantheon of Gods and Loas (Spirits), it was merely one of the ways enslaved Africans could keep their cultures and traditions alive in the New world after the enslavement of them against their will. Voodoo along with other African folk beliefs was often mixed with Christianity and takes many forms - Haitian voodoo, Cuban Santeria, Brazilian macumba and so on.
