. I agree; all christians are not the same. I think a lot of it has to do with how they were raised and their life experiences. Like you said, there is good and bad in all races and denominations. . I just came across this YT video on my feed about Jim Carrey and his spiritual path. I think he's an amazing person who went through a lot in his life and was corrupted by Hollywood. If you have time, I would suggest watching it, but you don't have to. I think he is a very honest person. . While watching this, I could not help but think of Prince and his own spiritual journey. I think Prince was finding himself and getting to know the true meaning of life. Some of this may be too deep for some people. . https://www.youtube.com/w...9MZPp1h690

i've seen a little of carrey's stuff, he's evolved for sure and been through some stuff, then, being a comic, depression and darkness is pretty much an occupational hazard.

makes you wonder what happened to push him to that extreme. i don't really take the illuminati stuff seriously.

. It is no mystery that Hollywood uses people and spits them out. Jim Carrey is actually a very good serious actor. A lot of people don't know that. A lot of people don't want to believe this, but the elite and powerful control our government and Hollywood. Prince didn't want to live in Hollywood, and he had very good reasons why. . I'm happy that Jim Carrey has found himself and learning what is important in life.

you believe in that illuminati stuff? the sacrifices and all? I definitely believe in social engineering but the witchcraft and all that, well, i'd need more proof.

. I don't believe in it, as in practice it, but I know it exists. It always existed, but we are just finding out more about it now, because of the internet.

. I never understood the term people make: "Live without Regrets". I guess if you are free spirit and have no regard for other's, you can easily say that. But, someone who is loving, kind, compassionate and gives to the world would hold accountability for what they do. So, that phrase has always been perplexing, to me. . The way I look at it is this.....If you live a life without regrets, then does that mean you are perfect and never did anything wrong? That is not possible, because none of us are perfect. If you never regretted anything you've ever done, then how can you learn from that and grow, as a person? . Just my 2-cents. Hi clovering, you said it...we learn from it and grow. But you’re right, that’s not enough. This is where Atonement comes in.

. Yes, he certainly is. I don't think he's putting on an act. He has enough money to retire and never show his face in Hollywood again. I guess at this stage in his life he has nothing to prove.

i take it you're a skeptic? I am too, I don't really see the point in rituals. Powerplays? hell yes, but witchcraft? I'd have to see more proof. I think it's possible though which is what makes it so intriguing.

well, he's definitely changed, you could say he's gone crazy or maybe just sees things different. It could be the fame and how little it meant, it could be the girl that killed herself over him or it could be a combination of things. He seems content though so it's not sad to me.

The death of his Mother in Feb of 2002, who had converted from an SDA to following JW scripture, could have played a part in his decision. There is speculation (or perhaps rumor) that his Mother expressed her desire that he become a follower prior to her death. This info: "Prince was raised a Seventh Day Adventist and then later a Baptist. His mother, Mattie Shaw later converted to being a Jehovah's Witness, as was family friend Larry Graham, bass player from Sly and the Family Stone. His baby son Gregory, born to his first wife Mayte Garciain, died from a genetic disorder of the skull called Pfieffer syndrome October 1996, seven dies after birth. In 2001, his father died and "Princes mother, the jazz singer Mattie Shaw, died six months later. Her final wish was said to be that her son should become a Jehovahs Witness as she had been for most of her life. Prince grappled with depression and something approaching a midlife crisis." (mirror.co.uk 1 July 2010) This helps explain his interest in the Witnesses around this period and conversion with his wife Manuela Testolini in 2001, and baptism in 2003. Manuela filed for divorce in 2006. In 2007 Prince started dating Bria Valente, who converted to a Witness after he produced her first album." Sourced here: http://www.jwfacts.com/wa...nesses.php I cannot attest to whether or not the above is factual as I pulled the quote directly from the site (it was obviously printed before Mayte revealed Amiir's birth name and there are a few discrepancies) and can't confirm it's JW accredited; however, it is interesting that his Mother was a JW and considering that, her "request" prior to her death might not be so off base. JW statement from church spokesperson, David A. Semonian - "We are saddened to hear about the death of Prince Rogers Nelson, who was baptized as one of Jehovah s Witnesses in 2003,”.... Sourced here: http://people.com/celebri...statement/ Thanks for posting that possibility that JW may have been his mother’s influence And not Larry Graham. Perhaps when Prince found out Larry was JW Prince glommed on to LG in effort to honor his mother’s request. Apologies.... I didn't realize that my thoughts alluded to absolving LG of any complicity in Prince's journey to the JW faith. Frankly, I believe he was THE most consistent influence. While the death of Amiir sent Prince in search of answers, comfort, healing, acceptance, if he hadn't met Larry, who knows what the end result would have been. After all, his Mother had been a JW for years. "Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence......." ~ DESIDERATA ~ Max Ehrmann

not to be judgmental but my first thought when i heard that was that he shouldn't have been with someone that young to begin with, it's too easy to play games with a younger persons head which i don't know if that happened or not but i know it does happen in those situation alot.

. I don't want to derail this thread, so I will keep this short. Carrey and his GF, Cathriona had a very turbulent relationship. He broke up with her and she then accussed him of giving her STDs and ruining her life. She threatened to go the the press, so Carrey gave her 1M to keep quiet. He regretting doing that, because after she died, her family tried to sue him for wrongful death. The Judge dismissed the case. . He genuinely cared about her and loved her; he was one of the pallbearers at her funeral. A tragic love story indeed.

My understanding is that Prince's mother was a Baptist, not JW. Source: http://prince.org/msg/5001/9182 . Prince's mom passes away at 68 According to Channel 9's Robyn R, Prince's mom, passed away last Friday.
[Thanks lmwp for the update & link below... --Ben] http://www.startribune.co...36303.html {{{Mattie Baker, 68, mother of singer Prince, dies Jon Bream Star Tribune Published Feb 20, 2002 Mattie Baker, the mother of rock star Prince and a longtime social worker in the Minneapolis public school system, died Friday at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. She was 68. }}} Her husband, Hayward Baker, said Tuesday that she had been hospitalized for a couple of months, and that she had had a kidney transplant three or four years ago. "She had gobs of friends," her husband said. "It'll be a big funeral -- five or six limousines." Baker earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Minnesota and spent more than 20 years as a social worker at Edison, Franklin, Harrison and other Minneapolis schools. She retired about five years ago. "She loved working with children," said her daughter, Tyka Nelson. Wayne Jensen, who worked with Baker at the Harrison Education Center, recalls how wonderful she was when making home visits. "One time there was a parent actually drinking mouthwash," he recalled. "She confronted the parent about how they were taking care of their student. I've never seen anyone like her who could, in a tactful way, talk about caring for their child." Born Mattie Shaw, she was a singer who joined the Prince Roger Trio in the 1950s. She married the group's keyboardist, John Nelson, quit the band and had two children, Prince and Tyka. After divorcing Nelson, she married Baker 34 years ago, and they had a son, Omarr. They lived in a suburban Minneapolis house that Prince bought for them about 15 years ago. Members of Prince's organization remember his mom showing up for the big events, such as Twin Cities concerts, his first wedding in 1996 and the premiere of the film "Purple Rain" in Hollywood in 1984. "I can't believe all the stars," she gushed to the Star Tribune at the premiere as she walked into Mann's Chinese Theater, where Eddie Murphy, Morgan Fairchild, Christopher Reeve and others had turned out. The quasi-autobiographical movie depicted a tempestuous relationship between the mother and father of the lead character, played by Prince. One of the film's songs, the hit "When Doves Cry," referred to Prince's parents: "Maybe I'm just like my father -- too bold/Maybe you're just like my mother/She's never satisfied." At John Nelson's funeral in August 2001, Baker was in a wheelchair. She had arthritis in addition to kidney problems, Hayward Baker said. In addition to her husband and children, survivors include her twin sister, Edna, of Las Vegas, and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Baptist Church in north Minneapolis.

sad how shit turns out. I've been talking to various people, even some media about Sherman Alexie who is being brought back down to earth (native writer for those who don't know). It turns out a woman he had an affair with him is one of the main ones gathering info from women he harrassed, all of which I believe because I've never heard a positive thing from other Indians about him, he supposedly threatened native women writers with blackballing, I put in my two cents, that i felt he plagiarized my work. but I have to say, i'm kinda sad that a major figure is being brought down and how things turn out so fucked up.

i've heard that Mattie was JW and I've heard she was baptist too. There was the story, think it was in the hahn book that Prince promised her he'd convert to JW. Also, i always read Prince was Seventh Day Adventist as a child which is fairly close to being JW. Either way, I'm just glad he got the music out of there.

Just one thing I wanted to say on that. If someone is really a Christian and believes the Bible is the inspired word of God - in the Bible it does say.."judge not, lest ye be judged." So, there you go. No need for a Christian to become high and mighty...it says all have sinned and fallen short! Main two bibical directives 1) Love God with all your heart and might. 2) Love your neighbor as yourself. Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...
