She handled it like it was some sort of a foreign object. She should have pretended to sing or draw or whatever but people (I'm sorry Andy stans) were laughing how stupid she looked.
This is something that I never understood about her. She can play acoustic guitar, she has a decent singing voice, yet back then her stage presence and performance was basically zero.
What was that all about ? What was the point?
I mean, she can clearly sing and play guitar.....so why did she just hold that thing and pretend?
Maybe Prince told her to? I was thinking back and the only bad Prince concert that I never went to was the one he cancelled...and I had to change my flight and pay extra to switch to the new date... And the best date I never went to was when I won tickets to the Chicago concert in 2013? and the hotels and flights were so expensive I had to bail (weather was bad, too.) I heard Prince was on fire that night because of a not so hot performance the night before... So sorry I missed out on that one...

His guitar solo's were the highlight of his shows for me.
1st show Sydney 2012 they couldn't figure out how to get a sound out of his guitar. They handed him his guitar back a couple of times, only for it to be silent again.
I think they got a different guitar tech for the second show!
For that reason 1st show Sydney 2012 was bad IMO. LRC rework with no guitar just wasn't the same My password is what |

The thing with "bad" Prince concerts is that even when things went really, really wrong Prince often still kept his composure and at least tried to deliver a great show, see Lovesexy Dortmund 1988 when his Model C guitar failed during Anna Stesia or countless other moments.
That one bad show I saw (Cologne 2011) was one of the few occasions where I thought "Wow, he could easily turn the situation around by just playing a bit longer or playing a piano or acoustic medley."...but unfortunately he didn´t and kept on lambasting the soundguy. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" |

Well...technically...I have. It was one of his late 90's Hit and Run concerts at the DTE Music place (just north of Detroit) and it was the summertime. I know this because Prince got on stage at exactly 8:00pm and after killing it for about an hour, there was something that happened with a backdrop...either it came down to early or too late. I couldn't really tell, nor could anyone else other than Prince. Because suddenly he walked off the stage with his band still playing. I thought he was just gone to change his outfit or something but then suddenly the band started leaving the stage. People were saying it was over and I was like, "Nah! They'll be back!"
Then the audience started leaving, and I was still like "Nah! they'll be back!" Then the house lights came up and the roadies came out and started packing up the instruments. And when I finally, reluctantly got outside, the first thing I noticed was the sun hadn't finshed going down yet, so it wasn't even 9:30! Needless to say but I will...I WAS PISSED!!!!
But Prince being the Prince that we all know and love...made it up to us a couple of months later by coming back and going to The Palace of Auburn Hills (still just north of Detroit) and showing OUT ALL DAMN NIGHT! He got on stage at 8:00pm and STAYED!
By 1:30am, even I couldn't take anymore and had to go. But from all first hand reports I got, he did not leave the stage until well after 2 am! Good times! Good times!
I miss Prince so very much!
This one?

Are you claiming he played over 6 hours for one show?
I don't know how many times I've heard people talk about 4-5 hour shows from Prince, but, I've never heard a bootleg that long, nor seen a listing at PrinceVault for a show that long. I've always assumed people were combining main shows & aftershows when they talk about him playing this long. Or exaggerting.
