HAS ANYONE EVER PERSONALLY MET PRINCE?

 Has anyone ever been introduced, shook his hand, or just happen to see him somewhere & said hi? I sat 1 seat away from him at a Sheryl Crow concert. I did not speak i was just happy he was that close to me. nod

I have talked with him several times in person (Jam of the Year tour, ONA tour in the States and in Japan) Prince has always been cool to me, but it's the people around him who are the parinoid assholes.

Not EVERYONE around him is an ass... Takumi, Scottie P, and NPG members have been cool with me too.

Yep in 1988 I was introduced to him, shook his hand and I handed him a tiny present and a thank you card. I could only smile and nod my head yes and no as he spoke to me. I felt quite embarrased, I couldn't say a word doh! That's no longer a problem, you can't get me to stop talking now. lol

Don't ask what the present was because I'm not saying.

yep, I had my "parade" cd with me and I asked him to sign it, and he said "this your favorite?" And I said "one of them". Then he said "glad to see I'm not the only one who dug it", then he laughed. Then I got a kiss . You know, beleive it or not, he's pretty cool. And very sweet.

Yeah. We argued about religion for awhile. He was pretty cool, considering I was questioning his fundamental belief system and all. smile

A few of us sat down with him at the Vancouver afterparty, and that's just where the conversation went. It was fairly long, but in summary: I said I was an atheist, and I thought that was a reasonable thing to be, and I was happy. He said that believing in the God and the Bible is the reasonable thing, and that happiness is irrelevant (which I thought was a sad position to take). He said I should visit a Kingdom Hall. He was cocky, but fairly pleasant and respectful. I'd do it again. wink

i was within about 500 yards from meeting him at an aftershow but then one of his big black minions told me i was too close... later on during the night i tried again when he was on the dance floor with larry and tina, and mayte(it was 98) and the same thing...

so it made me wonder, if larry"pleasedon'tswearnomoprince" and his alice the goon sea hag looking wife tina can have their holier than thou asses that close to P.

what was the harm in letting me get close enough to say hi.

i am not a thug looking person, or a ghetto fabulous trick.

i am a normal hum...that is the problem, i am normal, or as close to it as u can come...lol

he spoke to me from the stage at the 1993 concert in SF. there was this woman there in a lace cat suit, with nothing on underneath, I mean everything was showing. She was up on the stage dancing and the house lights were on so he saw me standing in the front row pointing and laughing. Where he was he couldn't see her so he said what? and I said look and he said where and I said there and pointed and he said damn, freaks in the house, and spotlight and had the spot light put on her. A fam who was standing next to me said he spoke to you...then it dawned on me, wow he did.

in the early years he used to give out kisses...I mean pre-vanity and her jelously tirades she used to throw in LA. I have heard of kisses in Europe or in Minneapolis.

Why he did not touch or kiss me? And not say hallo?

But this is all past. It is as it's never been.

Yes I have met him 4 times... Didn't want to ask him too much or bother him...Usually just complimented him on that nights show or how great of a musician he is but I'm sure he hears that all the time...One of the times at Glam Slam LA he walked through and a few girls flocked him trying to touch him(you know the old I'll never wash this hand again) and some dude snagged the straw out of P's Long Island Ice Tea..That night the peeps were acting so ridiculous I sure didn't want to bug him so I just said whut up as he went by...tell ya one thing, you sure don't realize how short he is til you stand next to him...

I never have met him in the sense that he spoke directly to me specifically, or that entailed any meaningful interaction.

After many years, I have given up the hope that I might meet him someday, but that's OK. I figure that is just not in the cosmic plan for me for whatever reason.

I enjoy hearing about other people's experiences, tho.
Thanks to everybody for sharing the memories of their encounters with him. heart

I know this thread has been posted before, but it's always cool to hear the stories...I met, hugged and kissed Prince at the ONA tour in Detroit on 3/6/02. It was the soundcheck, and I asked him if I could have a hug, and he told me to come on stage, then we hugged, I then kissed him on the cheek (right), and he said 'Hey, you just said a hug". And just to think the year before when we saw him in concert, I was sooo far away, I couldn't see him! I thank God for that chance, and there will be others...it is destiny.

nod

Peace and B Wild!

Interesting how Prince has changed. On the ONA tour, when I was at the Dublin show, he invited a female who was wearing a red beret, to go on stage and dance. He stood there and continued singing while she pawed over him - and he just laughed. A few years ago, Prince wouldn't have allowed this. The Dublin show was brilliant and the aftershow was just as good.

I personally got to dance on the stage at one of the Manchester shows and shook hands with him, he is now such a friendly person and after all the years of being a fan, things getter better and better.

Can't wait for Music Club 2003!!!
