Owen Husney’s dismissal from the Prince camp came at a critical juncture in the artist’s career. Prince spent the summer and fall of 1978 assembling a backing group, in hopes of touring behind For You the following year. It didn’t go entirely to plan; he wouldn’t embark on his first tour until November of 1979, after recording and releasing a much more successful second album. But the musicians he brought together would nevertheless determine his artistic direction for the following decade: providing the nucleus for the Revolution, the band with whom he would eventually conquer the world.

The setlist is unknown in full. One of his former cohorts said he was not well recieved by the audience in a 1990s interview and he was upset. I think Chris Moon confirmed this as well.

Sad that it wasn't till 2004 when the "old guard" rockers had his talent shoved in their faces that they sat up and took notice. RnB and funk already knew!

There's a documentary on YouTube whereby several people all the performane a dud, that he wasn't even close to being ready to tour, and that it was boring. WB execs were like, meh, and Prince's own cousin Charles Smith admits it was bad and that P did a RollingStones exit from the theatre without telling anyone...

Yes I saw that documentary. And that's what I meant when I said it is the struggles that make you. The struggle forces us to learn, change and grow. In other words....embrace the sucky parts of life.

Realised that some of the shots are from Mobeen Azfar's book - that volume is great, stories and photos. Classic shots covering his whole career. One from the Controversy era, with Prince holding Dr Fink like a dog.

I thought he had his back to the audience?
