Prince's ElectroRockabilly Album!!

From 1980 to 1983 (and beyond) Prince had this habit of writing these weird, little, short, jaunty

power-pop songs...

If we cobbled together a little LP of such tunes what would be on it?

I got:

When U Were Mine

Jack U Off

Delirious

Horny Toad

No Call U

Tick Tick Bang (1981 Version)

Can't Stop This Feeling I Got (1981 Version)

Girl O' My Dreams

Sister

Let's Pretend We're Married

Dance To The Beat (Prince Vocals Version)

Broken

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (Early Demo Version)

The One I Wanna C

“Can’t Stop This Feeling I Got” ‘81? What boot collection was that on? First I ever heard it was the ‘86 version tied to the remake of “We Can Funk” in the three part musical suite.

This was just discussed over the summer with a good list of rockabilly songs. http://prince.org/msg/7/444585

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I love this phase of his songwriting, it was without a doubt my favorite, or at least that's the stage of music he was writing when I really discovered him (Dirty Mind/Controversy). He was dirty and raw and taking his first steps away from R&B. Everything changed after that night he took E with Ingrid Chavez -- he lost that part of him for a long time.

I would also include Wet Dream, Drive Me Wild, Make Up, and Bite The Beat if we're including demos Vanity 6 used as studio guides.

Why is it so difficult to upload an avatar?

I assume he means 1982 version, I don't think it's circulating though? I certainly don't have it.

Right, I didn't think any such thing was out there yet.
