another pain disorder (often misdiagnosed) that former dancers get--a possible issue with Prince?

I just found this article...what do you all think. Its a disorder of chronic neurological pain that folks get who used to dance (and some even continue to dance with it) but its hard to diagnose and hard to treat..Opiods are often used. Debilating chronic pain disorder doesn't just hit the hip joints etc. Prince may not have had only one problem that was rectified somewhat years ago. Is it possible the problem was more complicated..(thus tests etc)

Here's the article..

I have these two friends who are professional dancers and a couple. They are now 52 years old. I haven't seen them in years, only keep up via FB. Last week I went to visit them. The husband has now this severe limp and he is in constant pain. The wife had hip surgery a couple of years ago and is doing much better, but still has some pain. I would not have guessed it in a million years. Even on videos they have posted on FB they seem so up beat and positive. They both teach dancing. Imagine that. I've seen the videos throughout the years. I would have never guessed...

It is possible that he had neurological pain from dancing or genetics. Think about the many different forms of arthritic conditions that put people in wheel chairs. In the recent documentary Van Jones states that he had killer hip pain. I suspect that his surgery may have helped some but he could have still had pain nothing can done about arthrithis but pain meds.

I feel if we do not know and may never know what was going on with his health it is not fair to put the drug addict tag on him. In the end pain meds may have been the only thing left for him and this documentary they are saying he made four trips to Walgreens in the last year to pick up Rxs. My guess is he was getting something legit under an assumed name the same as what Dr S did for the non-controlled substances.

He was taking some sort of maintence meds and if something illegal were going on at the Walgreens people involved would be in jail. Anyway if he used assumed names and due to HIPPA we are not going to ever find out anything.

Professional dancers deal with a lot of pain from injuries and just performing. It takes a toll on one's body. I have a great deal of respect for dancers, because they make it look so effortless. I love ballet, spanish dancing, latin, Irish step dancing......love it all, and it's hard work!!

I'm a highly skilled massage therapist. I study with a man who himself had a full hip replacement for a fall from height. He shattered the head of the femur. He is an expert respected internationally by doctors.
Once the hip surgery happens, which it's confirmed that prince did have a hip surgery...any type of hip surgery...only 1% of the population ends up with pelvic balance. Pain in other locations is certain. And hip surgery must follow a pre-surgery plan and post op plan that most doctors and hospitals don't know all about. They push pills. In the past, some metal hip components caused a condition called metalosis, the metal would leech into the blood stream causing flu like symptoms and once this happened the person would die not from the flu but from the component fragments schearing off. Poisoning

It's sad that others have also died from hip related surgeries.
My teacher is trying to work with medical systems to design protocols that he himself utilized for his own need. His hip was more balanced after his surgery then he had naturally. Prince death is due to a failing health care system pushing drug dependency for ignorance.

May we live to see the dawn of real healing in medicine.

.

It is very sad. My Mother passed away just 2-1/2 weeks after she had to have emergency hip surgery due to a fall. She was 73 years-old and had a pre-existing condition (COPD/emphysema). She seemed to be stable after her surgery, but her health rapidly declined.

.

I'm sure Prince had pain all over his body, like you said. He probably had terrible leg pain and back pain as well.

More denial. Addiction is addiction. He was an addict. He lost control and it cost him his life. Tragic, and it happens to many (thankfully many more individuals are able to avoid actually dying from opioid usage). The presence of chronic pain doesn’t mean it isn’t still addiction.
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Someone said this in another non-Prince-related thread:

.

Tucker had on yesterday was that "Pop Culture is Promoting Opiods" and the graphic for that was a picture of Prince, thenhe showed police cars , then some black people, but not the white midwesterners who everyone is all concerned about all of a sudden lol)

.

Sounds like stereotyping, imo.

Yup. Because the hip bone connected to the back bone...and the other hip bone...and the leg bone...and on and on.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Everything in the body is connected.
We all need to address this as we will want to age gracefully.

Anytime someone comes in pain, there are many variables in clinical reasoning.

Correction: a very successful health care business pushing drug dependency for big bucks.
