My old dance teacher (now a high-profile choreographer) recently told me that in the dance field Prince is not considered a professional dancer, while Michael Jackson is. I still think Prince was a more fluid dancer - some of his moves actually remind me of the Nicholas brothers' - whilst Michael's style was more rigid and his routines were very repetitive. Interestingly, it was Paula Abdul who choreographed the Thriller video and amongst other things she also choreographed Prince's Batdance video. Life Matters

That's what happens when you put rhythmless Damaris on stage as your 'dancer' lol

The was something about the way he used his instrument that made me think that, could be that he was in The business as a kid and had exposure to dance teachers earlier. He had precision that was apparent especially when he did huge group dances with more than 5 people. You have to be precise. And he was great at huge Dance numbers with extended dances. Prince was better alone, no surprise, Prince could surely outlast MJ on the dance floor because his improvised dancing flourished there. Micheal was like most ballerinas on the dance floor, polished but lackinG improvisational power.

His fluidity and precision are some of his best attributes dance wise. It's why people put him above Bobby and Chris. His dancing in his prime was seamless and he had pretty good technique for a non trained dancer.

Prince's moves looked more like improvising but they weren't any less coordinated than MJs. They both had attitude. But their attitudes were different.

I would have preferred Prince in a club Micheal not so much. Someone moonwalking away from me on the dance floor is not sexy or doing that spin on the hockey puck.

MJ wouldn't have danced in a club how he danced on stage... Make no mistake, MJ could get down with the best of em if he needed to. [Edited 12/23/17 11:34am]

Haha. This is one of my favorites. Y'all need to come to New Orleans. We got folks ages 2 to 92 - all colors shapes and sizes, dancing like that on the regular! #congosquare

Considering this is a 55 year old man with hip problems, its pretty fvcking impressive. Plus, I think P is partly just playing around anyway.

I’ll have to take your word cause there is little physical evidence To support MJ as a good club dancer without resorting to theatrical Dance move.

Come on, y'all don't know what that crazy dance is? Also watch P, Shelby and Elisa all break it down like that on COOL. IT'S THE PEEWEE HERMAN DANCE! Misty Copeland: There was one Pee-wee Herman movie that he was obsessed with. It was silly, like him, and funny, and quirky—watching Pee-wee Herman dance he just thought was the funniest thing.
