Do U think the "Revolution" band could have played the Sign "O" The Times album? As funky as the Revolution was, I think Prince made the right decisions by transforming his band for SOTT.
1. Sheila E.- Far superior drummer than Bobby Z. and I don't think he had the funk to rock Housequake. 2. Levi- Truly more funk than Brownmark. I must say that Brownmark never really had a chance to get loose, but that may have been the reason itself, not funky enough. 3. Miko- A pretty accomplished player. Wendy to me, only seemed to play chords and she never crank out a roaring guitar solo. Proof- Just listen to the 1986 version of We Can Funk. Nuff Said 4. Bonnie- Just on sheer vocal talent alone that she gets the nod over Lisa. If Lisa could really blow vocally Prince might have kept her, but Lisa and Wendy were a package deal. 5. Doc Fink- Prince knew better than to replace him and I think that he regrets that he left after 1990. The best keyboard player he's had period. I'll answer that with a big fat HELL NO!. "Sign" was fine the way it was made. The Revolution had their moment. Plus I don't think they would've been on the same wavelength as P. He wanted to be more musically flexible as you know, and I guess he saw the Revolution as just a pop/rock/funk band. When I was 5 (when "Sign" came out) I actually thought he was still with his crew. But then I found outlater that the crew changed. But all & all I'm fine with his decision. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE. | |

Didn't they originally record a lot of the songs with Prince that wound up on SOTT, under the "Dream Factory" project? | |

Yes which is why I think the Revolution (minus Bobby Z) could have maybe pulled it off. The SOTT tour was funky, but the Parade tour was just as funky! | |

if you listen to the Album closely you hear elements of the Revolution on there."Strange Relationship" has that element."It's gonna be a Beautiful Night",."Slow Love",
Play in the Sunshine","Ballad of Dorothy parker" has that element there."The Cross","It". mistermaxxx | |

The Revolution appear on the Sign O' The Times album - albeit sporadically - but they're there. | |
