I fear the well is drying. There are definitely some things left unleaked, some we've heard of and some we haven't, but how many more can there be? The amount of outtakes in circulation is now over 1000, which is already insane. I fear there may not be more than a few dozens left, maybe a hundred or so, IDK. Hopefully I'm wrong. Now when it comes to sounbboards, jam sessions and rehearsals it's likely there remlains a lot to be leaked.

i have thought that for some time... but who knows. I also hope the reports of damage to tapes is not as bad as some have suggested.

I personally think there is A LOT that's not released, especially stuff from 1979-1982. If you look at the Unreleased Tracks from The Vault from these years it's pretty sparse, maybe 30% of what Prince's output was just a few years later.

We all know that he was recording like a fiend during this time...

So where are the tracks???

Let us not forget that not all titles come from circulating tapes: Per, Duane and the crew also got a lot of titles from recording studios' billing records, copyright registrations, interviewing collaborators and being granted access to those collaborators' "recording diaries". Don't assume all known tracks are circulating.

I don't subscribe at all 2 ur suppositions only the last one ....this is the MAIN & UNIQUE REASON for all these Stuff leaked !!

huh? i've kept track of everything since te beginning and i've got about 750 songs in my
outtakes folder, and that's including a dozen versions of gangster glam and such or
4 takes on for you, half a dozen soulpsychodelicide's and lots of 'alternates' to released
songs. so i'm 'guessing' that actual unreleased tracks might be 500?

so where do you get the number 1000+ ?

Odd. I remember counting once over 800 and that was years ago. Now my folder has 1806 files. There are a lot of duplicates that I have to sort out (compare files, keep the best sounding), and quite a number of songs on early albums configs that were eventually released, but 1056 duplicates and official releases? I find it hard to believe

However if you're certain of your figure I can't challenge it until I've sorted out my folders, and I won't do it tonight.

750 songs/versions remains a ridiculously high figure anyway. We're spoiled but seriously, it's so many that it's already hard to believe. I don't know how many more there can be. I can't imagine too many but who knows... I certainly hope I'm wrong.

Yes of course, this is gonna be the fun part if we live long enough to see it happen: there's another 20 years of unreleased recordings that aren't circulating or even known of. I'm really looking forward to beggining this journey into uncharted territories
