Louie, Louie, Louie...
You are a disgrace to the Funk. If you can't rock steady... already! Damn! And you know what else?? I thought your habit of nicknaming Prince albums "the Sign" or "the Rain" or "the Mind" was a little cute at first, now it makes me angry. And you wouldn't like me when I'm angry. Slow Love is the most underrated song on there. One of his best ballads ever. I guess I just really like Prince exploring the 60s Motown influence; he has never made a song quite like Slow Love in that way...

Even when tried to with Funky Design, it couldn't be done! Housequake is the higher plane of funkiness! No matter how many times you spin that bitch, it's always funky. And if this isn't Prince at the pinnacle of funk, what the fuck is?!? This is my number 1 favorite Prince song. I doubt anything will ever top it. May I suggest you use this stick to clean out your ears?? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Housequake is a major funk-work, the only thing I dont dig as much is the drum machine. But its not my favorite work by Prince, that will be "Chrystal Ball" (the original version), forever. Ya know, I would agree with you on this, EXCEPT, I skip over it now because I WORE IT THAT FUCK OUT when I first got the tape. I would play that one song, rewind, play, rewind, play, to the point now that I just hate the ending of Play In the Sunshine, cuz I had to HEAR THAT CRAP JUST to GIT TO MAH SAWNG! So, yeah, it's played out by me now, but I totally respect the song - it was the BOMB when I first heard it, those first 700 days in a row... The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

when i was younger and first getting into prince, i though housequake was sooo silly.
but it has really grown on me. theonly song i really think is overratted on SOTT is adore... i just don't understand how people really not only love this track, but people often tell me it is their favorite prince song. i think it is good, but really lacks something. Actually, I believe that "Adore" is the only truly great love song Prince has ever recorded... but its a matter of taste, after all... "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

I have to say that I don't think there's an overrated song on the album. I think people on the .org know their shit, and know which songs are Prince's best. Louie, trust in people. Housequake is one hell of a barnburning song. You probably just haven't played it loud enough. (Try turning it up to eleven...)
Adore is also a fantastic song...few lines are as off-the-chart amazing as "if God one day struck me blind, your beauty I'd still see" and find the humor in the same song to quip ".Smash up my ride, well, maybe not the ride...". To me, there's two songs that COULD HAVE (not should have!) been replaced with outtakes, and they would be Play in the Sunshine (maybe for Rebirth of the Flesh?) and It's gonna be a Beautiful Night (for Crucial?) but all-in-all, it's really hard to criticize this album.

hey funkmistress...i'm not a disgrace to the funk..my nickname back in the dayz was "the funkcreep of denver". all i'm saying is housequake aint all that! its OK!! if i was gonna play some prince for a friend who has not heard anything but the mainstream hits, I definately would NOT play housequake. i'm not sure what it is..maybe it's his voice but that song sounds more like a B side when you compare it to some of princes other works (1999, DMSR, LadyCabdriver, Controversy, America, Pop Life). and fyi it's not "the sign"...its "the times"
i still love ya fm Positivity YES

"Housequake" is a great song.
If there's anything overrated on SOTT, it's that Minneapolis wannabe-sounding "Hot Thing." "It" is the most underrated song on the album, by far. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
