Audio: Prince's keyboard part on "Stand Back", isolated Anil Dash has posted a video on his Twitter that isolates Prince's keyboard parts on Stevie Nicks' "Stand Back". I always thought he just did the middle section on that clip, but he did the main synth hook, too. The video is just over 2-minutes long. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Prince deserves a co-writing credit for that. The wooh is on the one!

.He DOES have a co-writing credit; he got 50% of the proceeds from that song. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Both songs have that sensuous, breathing synth sound...totally fantastic. Love those vintage Oberheim keyboards...

That was great, thank you! I went straight to Stand Back to see if I could hear that flubbed key press, but you really can't tell. Studio magic, I guess. And the MUSIC continues...forever...

When put in Audacity or other sound/track editors you could switch on or off any of the tracks on the fly and just isolate the drums, percussion, vocals, guitars, synths etc. or mix them up which is really cool.

1/ As stated above, Prince did receive a co-writing credit for Stand Back, the only credit he didn't get was as an instrumentist, for the simple reason that he was under exclusive contract with WB (he could have asked WB to allow it, and WB would probably have complied, but he often wouldn't bother asking). Labels cannot interfere with writing credits, only actual recordings. . 2/ Prince not getting certain credits on Like A Prayer was, most likely, Prince's own wish. Prince liked to play hide and seek. It's also that SB was, by Nicks' admission, inspired by LRC, and you can clearly hear it in the melody. Adding this + Prince's additional contributions made it fair and square for her to share the money. Guys, you are discussing a non-event. That's insane It's like IDK, discussing "why wasn't Donald Trump elected president in 2016?". Well, he was. Have we fell into an alternate reality without me knowing? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

OK, wait, you guys had me doubting and I've just checked on the booklet and indeed Prince was not credited!! My bad. . I got confused because while he wasn't credited, the songs' royalties were definitely shared, as proven by this ASCAP registration: STAND BACK (Title Code: 490515592) . Given that Prince himself would later include the song on the Nude Tour program and his site's discographies, and that Princevault labels it as credited to both artists, I had totally forgotten that he had never received formal credit (though I probably had noticed it when I bought the album 25 years ago, given that I always read credits carefully back then). . However, as a label cannot possibly interfere with an artist writing a song, the lack of credit is clearly something Prince must have asked for (as often, so he could see how the song was received if people didn't know he was involved).
