It's a fanatical Prince fan who is convinced that he can do no wrong. I always assumed it had something to do with "The Prince Family" newsletter that many fans used to subscribe to. "Fams" being a shortened version of "Family". | |

Uhhh... back to the original question...
That's the word Prince chose to call his fans. Fam being short for "Family". A "fan", he said, is something you use to cool off a room. Also, there's a negative connotation behind the word fan... being short for fanatic. A lot of Orgers seem to be turned off by the word Fam. I personally don't have a problem with it. If Prince wants to look at his followers as family, I'm cool with that! | |

At first Prince publicly declared that "fan" is a bad word so he decided to call his fans "Friends" and then he realized that he would never be friends with the psychos that were calling themselves his "friend" so not wanting to use fan still they invented a new word in "fam". (Now that was a sentence  )
IMO Generally the people who call themselves "fam" worship Prince as a God and take things WAY too far. Also, has anyone ever heard Prince himself use the word "fam"? I've only read it on the website and in the emails which Prince has nothing to do with. Perhaps Sam is the person behind the evil word. . I think 'fam' developed a negative meaning on the org because many of us feel that if you change the way you speak or which words you use just 'cause Prince said so. . .well . . .that's a little frightening. | |
