if u could go thru the Closet of ur Mind & think way back, what was the 1st thing or situation that got u in Prince???

Going over to my cousins house when I was 6 and seeing the Lovesexy album cover. I can't remember what I thought about it, but that is my first memory of Prince. It took me another 11 years to actually start to listen to his music though!

Oh... and as far as "getting into Prince", I guess it was after watching a video clips TV special on Prince in 1999. I watched it because I was a big Miles Davis fan and I knew he had an interest in Prince. The 1999 video blew me away and I have yet to look back!

Watching mtv and seeing the "1999" video

Seeing the video for Mountains for the first time.

Sitting with a group of friends in the cafeteria in junior high school, looking at his picture in [i]Right On![\i] and everybody squealing "He's sooo CUTE!"

Hey Handclaps -- can you find it? It's the one with the big afro, a vest without a shirt and an ankh around his neck...?

A combination of things got me into him, but my EARLIEST Memory of thinking Prince was kinda cool was when I saw him doing P Control on VH1 Awards or something in these assless pants, the song was as crazy as those pants! Wheee!

I was 4 in 1982 and I remember hearing 1999, but it wasn't until "Purple Rain" came out that I fell head down head first for Prince. I remember going to see the movie in that crowded ass theater and my mom bought me the purple rain 45" single (which was actually purple and plastic) with God on the other side. She bought me the let's go crazy 45" too and forbid me to listen to erotic city on the other side. I remember having my Barbie and the Rockers guitar and rocking out on my bed pretending to be Prince...and I'm a girl, but I wanted to be him so bad

In The Begining 4 me was going over 2 my Aunt Frankie's House (R.I.P) & going in2 their basement where there was some DJ equipment & seeing the Controversy Album & wonderin' who this odd lookin' Black Guy was on the cover who was dressed New Wave (that's what it looked like) & playin the 1st track & beig "Blown Away" & the rest of the album was so Diverse & different. the Bass Line that 2 this day is 1 of my Favorite Songs that has this HYPNOTIC feel 2 it.

i didn't get in2 P til Emancipation Era tho. i went 2 Jam Of The Year Miami & was blown away (again) by the MultiCultural Crowd of people & seein' 4 the 1st time Bikers & B*Boys in the same place & seing some of the Most Beautiful WoMen in my Life.

from that day 4ward i was Hook'd & it's been P & The Related Artist & The Floridian Friends Of The Artist & The ChicagoNPG & The FloridaNPG & The NewPowerCliQue & The NPGMC & so on & so on...
