This was your original answer (post #21):

'Could Prince have wished to be paired up with Elvis all along?'
No. Elvis never had a clue about who took over his estate. Either does Prince. The connection is about the money and the experience they have running tourist attractions.
To which I replied, since you sounded so sure of yourself:
'How come you are so sure? And why the present tense? Do you know something we don't? Please care to share or do elaborate!'
Their estates were taken over after they were both dead. "Had a clue" is a figure of speech. What am I missing here except shade? "if you can't clap on the one, then don't clap at all" |

That doesn't necessarily mean that Prince hadn't started planning for it or looking at options before he passed. We have recently heard from Tyka about Prince passing on specific 'tasks' (like missions) to the people around him before he left this world. So is it very possible that he was already exploring his options or giving his preference for the future PP management too. No?

Ok. Now we are into fantasy unless someone reading this thread has access to Prince's pre-death 'tasks' and preferences. Having visited Graceland both pre and post the Graceland Holdings LLC takeover - my guess is Prince would have liked it better before. It was more authentic and less Disneyland. My opinion.

Elvis is truly a King...Eye love him so much, almost as much as Eye love Prince.
Eye no Prince must have loved Elvis. He certainly was influenced by him a lot, but Prince was also influenced by a similar artist at the time... LITTLE RICHARD. In looks, in style, and in general rock, he embodied him.
But both were amazing. Elvis was King...Prince was the Grand Prince of all time...Simple as that!
Eye will say Eye don't like how Elvis' estate is being handled after his death...Not that Graceland shouldn't want 2 make money, but it seems to be all about the money, less about the King! Eye heard for Elvis' 40th anniversary, they were charging money 2 go by the grave and pay ur respects! Like any1 got the money 4 that! [Edited 11/3/17 10:24am] |

Not really. Have you actually listened to that very recent interview where Tyka talks about the tasks Prince left everyone with? It sounds like Prince did plan a few things out.

Go back and listen to the whole interview Tkya did with the BBC. He left her task and he sent out directions for Paisley Park to many people. He had detailed plans and scripts written. He also had completed many of the exhibits. The women who did the intertior designed showed off the pics on her Facebook page and how would Graceland have been able to put things together so quickly?
Some has to manage the facilty so Graceland and the Elvis connection mean nothing. |

Growing up in Clarksdale, Mississippi, near Tupelo, Mississippi, and near Memephis, TN, Elvis casts a large shadow, and the 68 Comback Special is both Holy Grail and common knowledge/access. I'm always amazed that most people have never seen it since I spent my entire life seeing it. For the record, I like it and a lot of other work Elvis did, but I've never been able to call him the king of RNR. But, even as a diehard Prince fan, being raised on Elvis, it is easy to see some of the comparables. |

I wasn't too pleased when Graceland Holdings, LLC. took over the management of Paisley Park last year and even less so when I recently found out that an Elvis exhibition had been started next to Prince's at the London O2. I thought Prince would never have agreed for anything like this to happen.
But then I saw this article, and now I am not so sure anymore.
'Not shy about playing other people's songs in concert, Prince performed a short version of Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" on MTV Germany in 1993. In 2009, Prince chose to sing a jazzy version of Elvis Presley's "All Shook Up" at the 43rd Montreux Jazz Festival. This unique performance of the song shows a Prince paying tribute to a King that inspired him to achieve greatness.'
Could Prince have possibly wished to be paired up with Elvis all along?

As someone who was raised knowing the ins and outs of Elvis' life and watched Lisa Marie and the company turn the Elvis Estate into a mulitmillion dollar company, I can only hope they are willing to do the same for Prince. I'm not so much concerend about the money, but I'm hoping that they will learn how to make Prince's art available to folks who want it. If it is one thing that Graceland Holdings can do, it's sell stuff. Let's hope that their desire for money causes them to care for and sell the art properly. One thing that's true is that it's difficult to make money off something that one treats with disrespect. |

During the filming of "The Second Coming" film, the director said that, during breaks, Prince would take a guitar and do a DEAD ON imitation of Elvis for Susan Moonsie. He said it was so spot on it was scary. I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said. |

the king moniker, in my opinion, can be applied to several of the early guys, Little Richard, Chuck Berry as well as Elvis. I love all of them, Jerry Lee, Little Richard, Chuck, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino and also many of the smaller one hit wonders of the time that got the music off the ground. |

Ha. The first time I saw prince was the when doves cry video when I was 12. The scene where he's on his own being moody collars up and bug belt. Yes I know these are regency and Georgian in influence but the first thing I thought was Elvis.
I remember reviews at the time comparing prince to Elvis....his heir. And on an audience level I can see it.
I wish he was as appreciated |
