The recording of the TIME lps

Did Prince record all their lps with HIS
lead vocals as a guide for Morris to reproduce after ?

To my knowledge, he did that for all of the first album. Don't know about the other three...

certainly not for 'Pandemonium', that had Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis all over it!

But most of the Prince Pandemonium stuff is vault material, even the newer ones are from Corporate World.

I imagine that Prince did scratch vocals on all The Time albums, with maybe the exception of collaborative tracks on Ice Cream Castles.

Yes, it made me wonder back in the days why Jam & Lewis let him have so much influence on "Pandemonium".

I mean, they were more successful (with Janet Jackson) during that days than him, and he kicked them out of The Time before.

And I really wonder why there has been NO new The Time album during the previous 13 years (even without P influence).
They are very successful in touring, they are talented, and even good songwriters, and they are not able to take "The Time" to life again, instead being a pure retro band ?
I don't understand it. If there is 1 Prince project that could do it easily on its' own, it's those guys.

Maybe Prince owns the name 'The Time'.

Contracts, huh.

Prince owns 'The Time', it's really his baby, and he'd
always have final say on what goes.

There was a new Time album pretty much in the can and
ready to roll about 3 (ish) years ago called
'Old Dogs, New Tricks', but it looks like it's been
resigned to the shelf alongside 'Roadhouse Garden'
and 'Madrid 2 Chicago'.

Yeah, I remember that, there was a little talk about it on AMP, from Rhastus and other folks.

Shame it hasn't surfaced, or maybe it isn't!! wink

during the first celebration at Paisley, one night when it was just sort of a night club thing goin' on (no performance that night) they played "777-9311", and the music was identical to the album version but everyone collectively realized about 30 sec into it that it was PRINCE's vocals...too cool!
