John 'Solomon' Smith. Son of a Confederate Soldier. John's family were likely slave owners according to census records. He is also the father of one of Prince's older second cousins, George 'Geo' Smith, whose mother, Ida was listed as a housekeeper under her job description in one census record. John had been married three times in his life, had 18 children in total. His 3rd wife, Mary Ellen was the mother to some of Prince's biracial/mulatto cousins

Freddie Mae Hill. Prince's second cousin, (on his Dad's side). Photo was taken in 1928. Freddie was the first Black resident of Madison, WI to graduate from the University of Wisconsin and went on to teach Home Economics at the Tuskegee Institute during the late 20s. She also had a degree in Science. She's sort of the Katherine Johnson of Prince's family.

Prince's other second cousin. Irene Carmichael-Clark. Photo was taken in 1924. Much of her family lived in Georgia and Alabama in the 19th century and still does today. Irene also played piano years ago, music seems to run in Prince's family!

For whoever asked if any Native American ancestry exists in Prince's lineage, the answer is yes! Cherokee and Blackfoot blood in particular. One of his ancestors was the son of a slave master and freed Cherokee slave. However, his brothers disowned him when he married a Black woman. This would've likely left him out of receiving an inheritance from his parents.

Also, during the age of slavery it was not uncommon for Blacks and Native Americans to intermarry, the same also applied to Native Americans that married Scottish

Are we sure this not another hoax like the Geni one from a few years ago, where someone got photos from an anomymous white family's site and said they were Prince's great great grandfather.

.

Also the two videos are dated Aug 31 2016 and Sep 10 2016 and merely show pictures of scenery interspersed with footage from Roots the new series and Purple Rain, I smell Shenanigans.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

You can do some basic research on the Internet - that way, I learnt I have African roots (and not just as in "we all come from Africa", my ancestors were Sephardic Jews who intermarried along their way) and that I am also related to my former classmate from high school eek But this only reveals your "legal" roots, so it doesn't tell you your biological roots (because sometimes a father was unknown). However, genetic testing is a bit controversial and I decided not to go for it after I talked to a couple of people who did genetics at unviersity. Not that it's necessarily false, but it doesn't give you complete info.

Franklin Clark(left) and Irene Carmichael(right). Their family lived mostly in Anniston,AL within close proximity of the Alabama Nelsons, possibly one oldest and longest running lineage of Prince's family next to the Louisiana Nelsons.
